What the best way to connect 2 jamma games in 1 cabinet? I was trying to steer clear of the 6-1 and 2-1 switchers. They seem to have a lot of trouble.

The best way is to buy a Neo Geo 2 slot PCB and plug in 2 cartridges.

The next best way is to select either the 19 in 1 or the 60 in 1 and only enable 2 games.

I have never found any method of swapping between 2 different PCBs to be worth the trouble involved.

I've have the 6-1 in my Jama cab for years, never had the first problem with it......

If you have a cabinet with a hinged CP like Gauntlet Legends, you can do what I did -- 2 boardsets in cab, use jamma extension cables from the boards and run them up into the CP, then run another one down to the cab jamma connector and manually switch games.

No relays to burn out, no electronics to fail, no incompatibilities because *every* wire is being routed correctly. Only one boardset ever has power and the power is off when you switch connectors. And I have to adjust the monitor settings anyway between games so it takes me less than a minute to switch. I can even leave the game with the CP always unlocked because gravity holds the hinged top closed. Obviously this is for a home solution only.

Just use good quality extension harnesses (like Bob's).

YMMV but it's worked well for me.

Biggest problem I always found when switching (aside from the quirks of the two different hardware switchers I have owned) is the fact that many boards require you to readjust the monitor. It is usually no problem if you are only using boards with very close hardware (TMNT and Simpsons for example). But try slapping in TMNT, Rally-X, Mortal Kombat and Bubble Bobble in a four game config and seeing how well it works out with the monitor adjustments.

Thanks for the ideas. I was wondering though, because I have no idea. What if I connect a jamma harness to each game, then splice the monitor output, button inputs, speakers, etc together, with the exception of the power. Then put the +12, +5, -5 on a switch that would only power up one game at a time. Would the monitor output, or speaker output from the live game affect the other board that is off?

Short answer, "Yes"

Long answer, "Yeeeeeeessssss"

You will decrease the output levels by half for both the video and the audio. Not a real big issue on the audio since you could just crank up the volume, but on the video the image might be so dim you can't get a clear picture.

If you do it you will need to switch the audio and video outputs as well as the power and ground.
