What do I need to make an older Atari Centipede Trackball work with a 60 in 1 board? The red optical PCB's and a new harness that bob sells (with the outside wires switched)? Or do I need to buy one of Bob's $65 2 1/4 inch complete units? I have one of AS Multigame Pacman panels with the 2 1/4 inch trackball hole. I wish there was one easy solution among the tons of used trackballs I have laying around. Thanks for any insight.

I used old Centipede 2 1/4 trackballs which I rebuilt and added red translucent balls to.
You will need two red boards (one for X and one for Y) plus a harness. Bob does sell the red boards for $17 each and the harness for $10 ( I think). I made my own harnesses but only because I already had the stuff laying around to do so. I was attempting to save a little $$ by using the old TBs but in the long run it would have been cheaper to just buy new ones. When you figure the shafts and bearings, a new ball, the red boards, and a harness your looking at 85$ or so.

But if you buy his $65 2 1/4 inch TB, will he put a red translucent ball in it if you ask him? Or would he charge another $16 for that, making it $81 + shipping?

Balls of color are extre (as they say)....I thought he would swap it for a reduced price (less than $16.00) as I seem to recall that offer when I bought a complete 2 1/4 TB. I was fine with the BITD ball color (white).

Not sure about that actually, as I didn't consider buying a new unit until I was well into the project. But he may work with you on that.
