I have been working on a 19v2000 monitor for the last week, and had some great help (here), and have made some progress on it.

I have installed capkit, filter caps, 4 trans on metal frame, cleaned HV diode, resoldered all the header pins except for p900 (which I forgot to do).

When I first plugged in the game I had only the right half. Therefore, my guess was -X was missing. Pulled the deflection board out looking for some cold solder joints, and touched up a few spots and re-checked p600 & p700. Plugged in the board, and this time got the bottom half of the screen. Assumed I am missing +Y now?

Getting ready for bed and thought I would ask you guys for some suggestions and help before I look at it again tomorrow.

Thanks again,
Theron

Check the headers that go to the transistors, as well as make sure the screws on the transistors are tight and they're seated properly.

Last but not least also make sure all the fuses are good - sometimes they blow when the monitor had a few cold solder points.

According to this diagram the 2 transistors (Top right) control each respective half of the screen

http://www.westnet.com/~chris/arcade/19V2000/page09.html

If the deflection voltage is (+) then you will get one half of the screen operating
If it goes (-) then you will half the other half operating

Sounds like the transistor you replaced is still faulty, whereas before, the other one was.

Is it possible you applied too much heat to the new trannies?

Thanks, guys. I will resolder the wires going to the metal transistors and double check the screws. I will hopefully report back tonight if I have time to look at it.

Check the headers that go to the transistors

That did the trick! Thank you.

I now have a full screen, but was wondering about the adjustments that can be made. I don't know what's the best way to describe what I saw, but it looks like there is shadows constantly moving behind the text. Sort of looked like running water. Would this be corrected with the contrast adjustment? It was getting too dark to fiddle with any of the controls.

Thanks again!

Adjustments

It could be the contrast or the beam current it not set correctly. If the brightness is up too far there will be tracers on every oblect, not just the scores. Could you post a pic of the problem?

It looked like it was all over the screen, but easiest to see over the text. I had a tough time taking a picture of it. Here is the best that I could do. You can kind of tell is lighter and darker at different spots.

(Boy that pictures is horrible. It was a little bit better on my home computer). I will try and get a better one this evening, if I can't adjust it out.
