Ive got a k7000 in vertical collapse.I found that IC3 was burned up. I replaced it and its getting way too hot. If I leave the monitor powered on longer than a minute or so, it will fry IC3 again. Ive swapped out tubes, the neck board and the remote adjustment broad and there was no change so I'm sure the issue is in the chassis itself. Here is what the first burned up IC3 looks like. What could be causing this issue?

typically that happens when 1 of 2 things happen on or with the chassis.

the vertical IC is getting 2 much power to the input pin.

verify what voltage you have with the IC out of circuit and let us know.

or.

it is the wrong vertical IC, if you have the wrong one in the chassis it will smoke it just like that.

was this chassis working before with no issues?

or was it one you had and decided to get it up and running.

take some pics of the vertical heatsink, front and back so i can see it without the IC mounted to it.

what is the # on that part.

i stock all the different heatsinks that wells used.
if you need any shoot me a PM

if you hit a brick wall, your welcome to send it in.

Pictured is a NEC UPC1488H which isn't identical to UPC1378 (a pin that is grounded on the latter has a cap on the former). If your K7000 came stock with a 1488H then replace it only with the same IC.

what else is different on the chassis that makes it only take a specific vertical IC? I find that really weird on WG's part that there's 3-4 different ones and I think only 2 are interchangeable.

The chassis I bought nonworking so I have no history of it working. I did match the part numbers for IC3 when I replaced it. The k7000 chassis is the P447C version with the remote adjustment board. Here are the pics of IC3 and the chassis.

Thanks guys!

i would definitely do a cap kit while its out too those look like original caps.

nothing looks too out of place in the pics.

what is your voltage to the IC?

remove it and test it with no IC in the chassis.
