Have a 4600 thats blowing fuses. Adding a jumper wire only blows the main fuse in the game. Looks like the game will be a part out at this point, also has board issues, but just wondering possible culprits for the monitor. Any ideas? Also is it is the flyback, can I even find one?

Does the game have an isolation transformer? If not, then that's why. Otherwise, check the HOT and VR.

BTW - NEVER jump a fuse to "see if it will work". All you'll accomplish is causing more damage...

The vr is the voltage regulator. It kind of looks like the hot but is mounted on the other side. You check them with a multi meter so they are not shorted to ground

So highly doubtful my flyback is bad? I would think it would have sprayed out with the jumper attached. Still not sure on how to test the hot and VR, but I guess they are cheap enough to replace.

OK, I replaced the hot and VR, changed the fuse and gave it a cap kit for good measure. Now its not blowing the fuse anymore, but still not working. Originally it was getting power but no neck glow. Then I noticed the neckboard had a small chip missing from one corner which damaged a trace. Repaired it, and now its not getting power either. Fuse is still good. Any ideas?

still might be the flyback.. the 4600 was once considered one that never failed. however I am now seeing the start of 4600 fly failure. what about unplugging the large plug from the flyback to the mainboard.. see if it still blows the fuse..
