1998 rowe/ami cd-100 plays random cd&track, jukebox doesnt respond to keypad commands

this is exactly what happens, when i turn on the 1998 rowe laserstar encore model jukebox it instantly grabs a random cd from the magazine and starts playing just one track from the cd and then the arm places the cd back in its slot and the magazine spins and the arm randomly picks another cd and plays just one track from it and it continues this process untill i turn off the machine....when i try to select an album and a track from the keypad it does nothing,i can see the cd selection & track selection i made on the display... the numbers show up,but then disapear and the current random cd and track number the jukebox picked pop up on the display....so in other words when the juke is playing its random cd and track it doesnt respond to the keypad when i try and select a different cd and track...help is highly appreciated

Have you tried going into the setup menu and clearing current selections? Could it possibly be set for continuous autoplay? If all else fails you could do a reset to factory default settings which would clear any programming faults. If that doesn't work, then there is most likely a bug in the CCC or the mechanism control.

havent tried to clear current selections, what are the steps in doing this?..and its not on autoplay because it says freeplay on the display..it seems like the factory reset is the best choice, whats the procedure in doing the factory reset? since i only have volume 1 of the manuals and volume 2 has all the codes and commands...appreciate any help i can get on reseting to factory default...

Can't remember the function number for clearing selections. If you have the patience you can just step through the functions until you find it. I believe to reset to defaults: move service switch to service position, move power switch to off position, hold 0 and 1 down on keyboard and continue holding them down while you move power switch back to on position, keep holding them down until display shows defaults loaded. go to function 81 and clear errors. remember that you will have to reinitialize the CDs and things like price settings, autoplay, free play etc. will be reset as well. function 32 is a shortcut for entering number of tracks for the CDs. you can just enter a few for testing instead of having to reprogram all of them. getting the second manual is highly recommended unless you like to spend a lot of time googling for answers on settings. I truly don't know if that model has an option for continuous autoplay or not, but freeplay and autoplay are two different things. Even if it's not set for freeplay, continuous autoplay would still play selections continuously.
