I have a 1990 Konami Aliens machine I picked up about a year ago, I didn't have the keys so I finally got around to prying open the back and looking inside. The outside looked good so I figured It was an original cabinet, but read yesterday on KLOV that there were no dedicated Aliens cabs, they were all conversions. I didn't find any identity plate or anything saying what the machine was, but I did find two things.

There was a stamp on the inside of the cabinet that said it was inspected in March 1982 and the picture tube had two Williams stickers on it and one said 1982 Williams.

So here's my question ... does anyone know what it could be?

Below are two photos.

Could be a Joust or Moon Patrol.

Does it have any serial numbers on it?

Moon Patrol. Look for blue overspray on the inside of the cab.

How could you tell just from those pics? Did I miss something?

My suggestion was going to be to measure the width.

24"= Moon Patrol
26"= Joust

Guess

An educated guess. I was going of the Joysticks and buttons. They are not in the correct location for a Joust so I assumed that it was the origional CP for a Moon Patrol that was converted. I thought if they converted a Joust that they would have used the same holes (slots) that Joust used. Also, The 2 action buttons, they are in the same location as the jump and fire buttons on a MP. Not where the Flap buttons on a Joust would have been. Just a guess but I am sticking with it.

Really good deduction. I agree.
