Can anybody give me some information about a space invader machine i have had for the last 18 years please?
I think this machine dates from about the 1980s but i am not sure. The only English wrighting on it says SUPER TWIN everything else is written in japanese.
It is a games table that two people can play sitting either side,i think it is called a cocktail table. The graffics are in colour and it works fine.
I have more pictures if anybody can help.

Sounds like a SI cocktail table. ;)

If you have the pics, just post them.

Never heard of super twin, it's probably a space invaders bootleg. If you like the game just continue to enjoy it. If you're looking for info because you want to sell it, well, about the only thing going for a bootleg like that is the working monitor. Most collectors want the real thing and space invaders can be found pretty cheap these days.

Cheers for the reply.Just figured out how to attach photos.I am a complete novice when it comes to arcade games, can you tell me what the SI table is?

Can you tell me more?

I can't find any more info on it.

It seems to be one of the countless clone machines made BIID. Pretty much an unremarkable unit.

Keep it for the nostalgia - it's probably unique, most certainly rare. Value is near nil compared to other games, though.

Only info I found in a quick google search

http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthread...941&page=8&view=expanded&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1

Its also listed as an "undumped" game on "MameDev" and "Mame World" so they might want to dump the roms. Might be the only board still around. I don't know much about MAME so am not sure how much they care about bootlegs.

Edit: On MameWorld it says all undumped games are wanted but think you need an account to follow the link to contact "guru"

THANKS FOR THE REPLY MUNDOMAN4 VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.I HAVE CHECKED OUT THE FEEDS YOU ATTACHED I GUESS IT IS THIS ONE ---Super Twin (Hoei, 1979) (Head On (licensed) / Super Space Stranger)
CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT DUMPED MEANS?

Reading this is getting me real excited! I have been watching this Mame development team for many years actually since the late 90's. It is certainly possible that this IS the only one game in existence. The Mame team has been collecting games for over a decade and if it has not been "dumped" yet it is extremely rare.

Ok, lets see if I can explain dumped so that to encourage you to help those guys out. What happens is owners of these arcade games out there will send the game board out of their arcade game to a member of the Mame team and the member will copy the software off of the board so that they can keep a copy in their virtual museum and make it possible for people to play it on modern computers. The Mame member then returns the game board back to the owner so that he can put his game back together. Rarely if never is any money changed hands this done simply so that these games can be preserved for years long after the hardware is extinct. The slang term for copying this game software off of the original board is "Dumping".

This is surely a real rare game at the least and I would surely hold on to it or if you sell it make sure you sell it to someone that can appreciate its rarity.

Don't get too excited... just because the cab was a super twin, doesn't mean the board inside is correct...

Is it working?

I'd be happy to dump it in any case.

Many thanks analogkid280 for explaining the dumping process. Its understandable that if this is a rare machine then dumping it is a very good idea.
I am 100% sure that this machine is completly original as my dad owned it before me.He brought it from new and it has always worked great and never been repaired.I played it last weekend and it still all works fine. The only thing missing is the box that the coins fall into.
If this is an original machine, which i am sure it is,would it have any value to it?
The reason i ask is because last year sombody offered me $150 for it.Should i have excepted there offer?

No way. For something that rare and WORKING, it's worth more than that for a way to play SI in some form regardless.

Ok.would any of you guys want it because my other half has told me ,its gota go? I will be very sorry to see her go (the machine i mean) as i have had her for so long but with another baby on its way i need to clear out the spare room and i have nowhere to rehome her.if anybody wants this machine then please make me an offer.

Whereabouts are you located? These things are more expensive to ship than they're worth, most of the time... :(

That is a nice looking game, though. Shame you can't keep it. Might be smarter to just get rid of the wife...

I don't think this game is called Super Twin :D
Look at the entry in the Mameworld list:

Super Twin (Hoei, 1979) (Head On (licensed) / Super Space Stranger)

I guess Super Twin is the name of the cabinet and originally featured two games: Head On and Super Space Stranger (supposedly an SI clone).

Sega/Gremlin had similar "dual" cabs: http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=8204
http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=flyerdb&subpage=thumbs&id=2804

So I guess the game is Super Space Stranger (undumped anyway) ;)

Maybe the original poster could add a few screenshots?
