Hello All, I have read many threads on monitor conversions, but none seem to apply to my situation. I my game has all the original boards and monitor in it. While playing the monitor shut down. I checked the fuses and the left fuse on the monitor chassis was blown. Inadvertinley I stuck a more tolerant fuse into the holder and FOR SURE blew the rectifier and who knows what else after it. The CRT tube still lights but the monitor power supply needs help. The tube is a B&W Sylvania #22VATP4. I don't see that monitor on anybody's website. The monitor power supply board is a midway part #161 901-1, The video driver board is a midway #161 900 1.

I can replace the burnt components on the supply board, but I wonder if anyone knows what other replacement options I might have? Did Sylvania make monitors for any other companies? I am sure I have all original parts. Everything in the cabinet has Midway etched into the circuit board.

Thanks for any help!!!

Thanks. I hope someone here can help with a conversion or parts or ????.

Sylvania is who made the tube, not the monitor. Without a picture it's hard to say.....Wells-Gardner and Motorola were the more common black & white monitor manufacturers, but there were others.

It is the original Midway monitor setup and all the boards say midway on them. Could they have copied a motorola or other's boards?

Could another chassis work with this tube?

Haven't seen this B&W chassis and tube anywhere

Has anyone seen this chassis? The small board is the power supply board that slides into the metal framework. My tube lights. is there a replacement or does anyone have any parts or ideas? Thanks

Like I posted above, the schematic for your monitor is on the last page of the parts catalog. It is an odd size at 23" so the only replacement I know of would be a Motorolla XM-701 unless you find someone parting out a Sea Wolf. Have you tested the parts you believe are bad and/or replaced any of them?

not yet, I was hoping I could just convert the chassis and plug it into my monitor, maybe that can't be done(?). Or do some kind of conversion so I don't always have to find really OLD parts. Thing is I had a blown fuse and replaced it with another that had more tolerance and smoked the monitor power supply and (hopefully not) maybe something else.

Yes, I read about the parts but if you want to reinstall a black and white chassis you will have to go with something old. I have read about some guys using a color monitor in a B&W cab but I have never tried it.

Do you know if the pin-out on a B&W CRT is the same as any other B&W? I found a guy who has a working power supply and chassis but for another monitor. Plus what about the flyback?

So many questions, but this time I have plenty of time...

B&W CRT's come in a few varieties, all with different pinouts, just like color monitors. You need to know what he has to know if it might be interchangeable. Again, this monitor is an odd size so I doubt the other chassis is going to be plug and play.

And you'll have to swap the yokes...not a big deal, but could lead to serious damage if not done. There's an unbelievable amount of variences between black & white monitor yokes.

I really don't think it should be all that hard to repair your existing monitor chassis. So, the fuse blew, and you replaced it with a larger fuse, and blew up something else... I'll bet what happened is the main filter cap failed shorted, and blew the fuse. Then you put in a bigger fluse, and blew the rectifier. Replace the filter can, the rectifier diodes, and any other burned parts, and try again. You can replace the multisection filter with individual electrolytics, just tie all the negative leads together.

Would that explain the fact the CRT tube does still light up? So what is the monitor power supply board for? Thanks guys!

The schematic shows two fuses. One is for the high power (lighting the CRT) and the other is low power. It sounds like you blew the low power fuse...

yes! i believe you are right. Who has the cap kits? I need a 600mf. It looks like the only cap I have related to this power supply board.

Can you snap (and post) a picture of this monitor's chassis?

Edward

Nevermind....just found the pictures in the earlier post.
