I picked up this 1975 Taito Western Gun recently (here's my original posting) and I'm finally getting around to working on it. I had been waiting on caps and transistors in an attempt to get the monitor working, but after replacing them it's still dead. I really didn't think the caps would make any difference, but you never know and I'm sure they're pushing 50 years old(!) The monitor is a 19" black & white Toei GMM-8, and I could not find anything online about this particular monitor. I contacted Chad at Arcadecup and I'm sending him the chassis and yoke to (hopefully) work his magic and get it going again. I'm afraid it may be the flyback and I don't know if he'll be able to find a replacement. Worst case scenario I will have to hunt down a 19" b&w TV that I could retrofit, but I really want to keep the original monitor if possible.

My plan is to give the cab a deep cleaning and repaint the base since it looks like it had been sitting outside in the dirt for awhile. The rest of the cab is in decent shape and I really want to preserve the patina. If you read my original pickup thread you know that one of the pistol joysticks was missing. To say this will be difficult to source would be a huge understatement. I've explored the idea of using the existing stick to cast a replacement handle and basically build a replacement from scratch and while this is still an option, for now I'm going to customize two 4 way trigger sticks by fitting a couple of spare pistol grips from a Boot Hill. The last pic is the pcb - look ma, no processor!
