1975 Taito Western Gun - bronze restore

Nope. Pitchforks are definitely in order! Not giving mine up. Gonna get a torch for the other hand, too! :viking:

What's the original tube type? And which tube type did Chad use on his bench?

Yes, it's nice to see it going. But you're sooooo close!
Gotta get the original monitor running.

I'm not sure what tube Chad was using - I'd have to ask him. Here's a pic of the original tube. I'm thinking a 19" b/w tube should work but as I said I've been looking practically every week for the past 6+ months at thrift stores and yard sales locally and have yet to find one. I've seen a couple on ebay, but shipping is outrageous and that's if the seller is even willing to ship...

500mm tube. Look for 19" TVs (easier) and 20" TVs (better size fit).
And find out what Chad was using. Might have been a 19VARP4.

Here's a cheat guide for you:

(thanks again, @ieure for putting tubular together!)

Good news and bad news...

The good news first - Western Gun is fully working!
The bad news - I had to use a LCD monitor (gasp!). Ok, ok - ease up the grip on those pitchforks. Chad Entringer serviced the chassis of the original monitor and had it working on his test bench (with a different tube). When I tried it with the original tube I get nothing, which leads me to believe the tube is dead. I've been looking for months now for a 19" black and white tv that I could retrofit (or even do a tube swap) but I've been unable to locate one locally. I'm at a point where I'm going to sell the game, so I decided to throw in a LCD with a composite input just to have a playable game to list for sale. I'll be including the original monitor in the hopes that whomever gets it will eventually get the CRT working and re-installed.

Sometimes I see B&W tv's that are 19inch at my day job. It's rare but it does happen. If I see one again, I will let you know. We had a 19 inch bw sony tv that was gorgeous and would likely have been really close to what you needed there.

Really nice! I found a Western Gun in Italy from Model Racing under Taito licence.
All PCBs are Taito
