1971 Bally Roadrunner "scenery" drum problem

Im restoring this vintage driving game, and have a problem with the scenery drum's illumination.
At rest/gameover, the scenery lamp is illuminated.
At coin-up, the scenery drum revolves during gameplay, but the lamp goes out.
At gameover, the drum stops, but then the lamp comes back on.
Weird.
If I get this licked, I'll have a 100% working game!

Thanks for any help,

Dan

Hi Dan,

I had a quick look at the circuit tonight. The projector lamp is always switched on at a low voltage to pre-heat the lamp and should be dim when the game is over. When the game starts the game relay should switch the lamp onto a slighter higher voltage on the transformer.

Have you checked the wiring on the game relay and also its contacts are adjusted? There is a 15A fuse which supply the higher voltage to the lamp but if this was blown you would also have other problems.

regards Derek
