Good day to you all -

Recently, I picked up a 1969 Sea Raider and it's such a neat EM machine. IMHO, EM's are truly amazing pieces of arcade game history. I've decided that from now on I will mostly purchase only EM's for my collection. Yes, I enjoy 80's and 90's arcade machines, but there is something unique about a good ole' EM standup arcade. The character of the cabinet, classic artwork and the simplicity of gameplay brings me back each and everytime. The blacklight effect is really cool too! Sea Raider is currently 95% working. At the moment, it's not showing the explosion light when the ships are hit by the torpedeo, contact hands of the ships need adjusting and also needs a good internal cleaning. It has the typical marks and scratches on the cabinet. With that all aside, it's truly in fantastic shape. 100% complete. The coin door had not been open in many years; keys lost ... I drilled out the lock and discovered that there was a little over 19,000 coin hits on he counter, a service slip from 1978 was found inside also. Location stated: Carnegie??
Not sure of the specific location of this machine. Any thoughts?

Anyways, EM's are a true passion of mine and if you ever have the chance to pickup a Sea Raider or any other EM... you should go for it!

Check out the glass on this bad boy. Love it.

I just wanted to share my EM experience. Enjoy and Happy Holidays.

Awesome machine, i also feel your love for the EMs. We just picked up a Sega Jet Rocket the other day and its amazing. i cant believe the shape those two games are in great work.

"Thank you" wickedbass. The Sea Raider is the actual shape that I picked it up. The S.A.M.I machine I have been working on for several weeks. It's been shopped out and the entire cabinet repainted to the original color scheme. It's looks simple, but it sure was a task. I did leave the original sideart alone. It's not in bad shape. Of course, there are some scuffs and marks, but still in darn good shape for the age of the machine. Basically, my goal was to just shave some years off that particular machine. I completely stripped the coin door/ repainted etc. ... that was tons of fun ... NOT! lol. A few things to accomplish with S.A.M.I and it will be completely finished.

It's a possibility that I will recreate stencils for Sea Raider and repaint the entire cabinet ... not sure yet. Tons of work and time involved with that project. I do wish that a company offered reproduction stencils for this machine ... would make my life alot easier.

I just checked out the Sega Jet Rocket on marvin3m.com ... wow ... awesome machine!

How is the game play ... what does it look like inside? Would love to see pictures.

Fun stuff my good man.

I will take some internal pics and post them when I have a moment; in the process of cleaning the Sea Raider. This machine really is compact combared to most EM's that I've seen ... most are just monsters in size!

Curious, Burt6666 ... do you remember the arcade location or establishment of the Sea Raider that you played when a child?

Fun thoughts.

Ah there was a guy in Xenia which is just east of Dayton that had one of these had it for awhile thought it might have been it.

Sounds nice. Camping is something I have not done in years.
I think it was in a KOA campground somewhere near the west coast in the U.S.

Thanks Hyde. The font design of Sea Raider puts a smile on my face.
I'm a little late here, but I must say that game looks awesome! I love how the words "Sea Raider" glow in orange.

Thanks ParrotHead. A tried once to pickup a Stunt Pilot on Ebay, but was outbid. You can't win them all. How's your Stunt Pilot? Working? Fantastic EM game and neat playfield.
That is beautiful. I have one EM Game Midway's Stunt Pilot. It is a thing of beauty, too.

Speaking of playfields. Recently, I created a custom dioramic playfield for S.A.M.I and it truly transformed the inside scene of this machine. I still have the original playfield. Although, I personally wanted something unique that you just don't see everyday.
Shoot ... not many surface to air missile interceptors floating around out there.

Check it out and enjoy.

em games

That Sea raider game is Awesome, DON'T PAINT THE CAB, leave it alone, you will regret doing it. Besides it looks Great from the pics you provide. Show some more if you get a chance.
I have apollo 14 from 1970, works fine too yet the cab has some yellowing on it and I cant seem to wash it off so I'm leaving it alone. I know I won't regret that. and repainting, I would need someone beyond pro standards and experience for that..
Yes Em games are Cool !

ps. carnegie HALL ? perhaps that game was there, so save that receipt it may help with value one day proving to someone who is familiar with that place that the game was really there, who knows what celebrities played it in the day..

Ooh, that custom playfield looks awesome! Are you in to miniature modeling/terrain creating?

Thank you Hyde. Yes, every once in while I will create a miniature diorama.

That is nice!
Bill

Thanks zappaf19. Do you remember playing a Sea Raider?

Hi sizzlerjoe. You are correct. I should keep the cabinet in current state and not repaint. Although, it does appear that the front stencils graphics were touched up at one point. Nice job, but they did not fix any knicks before repaint. Thank you for your thoughts on the matter of a repaint.

Funny thing. When you mentioned "Carnegie Hall" ... I just smiled; that was my first thought when I discovered the service slip. Who truly knows ... but it would be neat if this machine once had a home in Carnegie Hall. Wishful thinking you could say.

Last night, I took a couple of photos for you all. Do they bring back memories?
Photos are worth a thousand words and sometimes even more.
