HI,

Im new to this site but i thought this might be the place to get some answers. I just picked up a 1948 Bally Reserve Bell 5 cent slot machine. I didnt get the keys with it. Also when you plug it in some lights come on and you can hear gears trying to turn. This is my first old slot. Can you get keys or do i have to get some made? Anyone have any idea on value. I bought it for $400. Now it seems that the cabinet was covered with wall paper like stuff. I think it can be removed pretty easy.

Bally Reserve Bell

The Bally Reserve Bell is one of the models made which include the Draw Bell and Wild Lemon.
Original locks are very hard to find and replacements have a lot to be desired. Find a good locksmith who can pick the lock and rekey it, if the locksmith wants to drill it RUN. Once you get it open your adventure will begin. Your purchase was in the park expect to pay at least double to triple that price for the restoration. You have a lot of work ahead of you. Take it one step at a time so as not to get overwhelmed. Suggest replacing the bulbs first, be sure to use the exact same bulbs so as not to burn the back glass paint off.

Thank you so much for the advice. Ill post some before and afters if i can figure out the slot machine and this website. Ive got some work ahead of me.
