I installed a 19-in-1 last night and was fiddling with the volume. As of last night I only knew about the volume on the second to last screen of the test menu, which I set down to about 5. Reading this morning, it seems there is also a pot on the board.

My question is this - the volume on my menu is now down extremely low (likely to the 5 I set), but the volume on the games is still too loud. Are the two volumes controlled independently? Does the pot control the game volume and the software the menu volume? Could this be the result of a wiring issue in the cabinet? In short, how do I fix it so that both my menu and games play at a reasonable volume?

The pot on the board is basically the master volume, and the control in the menu is the sub-volume. So - if you set the pot on the board to 50%, the menu volume will range from 0-100, with 100 only being the 50% max allowed by the pot.

What I do is turn the pot all the way down, then set the menu volume to 100. I then turn the pot up until it's the loudest I'd ever want it to be. Then I turn the menu volume down to the level I want it right now.

That usually works out pretty good...

Thanks for your reply. I actually think I read something similar that you'd posted elsewhere. This doesn't seem to explain the differing volume levels between the menu and the games themselves - any ideas on that?

The menu music is just some random PC-based music they picked. The game music was designed to run through different types of amplifiers - and in Stereo for games like Gyruss. This explains why some sounds are louder or softer than others. You can't take a whole bunch of different programs and have them all run the same on different hardware.

Besides, I always turn the menu music off...
