I have a G07 in a Frogger cabinet that's currently running Gunsmoke. This machine has been a champ and worked great until last October. My kids and I had our annual Halloween party last year. By the end of the evening everything worked except Gunsmoke. The monitor was nothing but a staticky mess. Ordered a new flyback and cap kit but when I went to look at it a few days later Gunsmoke worked just fine. Flash forward to now, getting the game room ready for this year's party and Gunsmoke has a diagonal roll. If I turned off the machine next to it the picture went back to normal...until the next time I power cycled it. Two days ago I went to take a picture of the screen and the second my flash went off the monitor went back to normal. If I leave it on for a while it seems to correct itself, but is there something else going on that I need to address in addition to a chassis rebuild? In addition, the screen is jumpy when credits are added or the start buttons are pressed.

Thanks in advance!

Based on the history you are giving of this , I think it is a wire in the sync section that is slightly loose, or a bad solder joint in that section. Possibly a bad pot, but I don't think so.

If it is an original flyback, I would go ahead and change that and recap it. But pay really good attention to a solid reflow throughout the chassis.

When I rebuilt these, I spend the largest amount of time on the reflow. Easily 2 hours. I am very careful not to bridge any spots that shouldn't be touching, and I feel like I hit several hundred spots with fresh solder.

My guess is you will be back in business in no time.

Thanks for the tips, I'm hoping it'll last through our party on Saturday and then I'll have some free time to go through the chassis.
