Any place where this extinct item can be found cheap? It's finally time to replace the original 1980's monitor in my Centipede. Since I was able to do a swap using a nice new WG 13" monitor in a Missile Command I was hoping to be able to do the same for the Centipede.

most new ones have been discontunued etc.. the days of new 19 inch monitors for $120 are long gone..

You will have to see who has some stashed, but they wont be cheap.

Save a 19" color television from the landfill and do a tube swap.

no kidding.. wtf brand are they though?
i bwt shipping aint cheap tho.. glad to see theres still some cheapies out there...

If you already have a monitor frame then by all means go buy a 19" TV with a curved tube, tear it apart and ohm out the yoke and contact http://alvaamusements.com and order a chassis for it. IIRC the last chassis I bought was $72 shipped and the TV cost me $20.00. The monitor from 8liners is also going to cost you $50 to ship. Less than $100 for an almost fresh monitor is a great deal and it takes so little effort to wire them up. Let me add Frizzlefried has ordered a couple of these from 8liners and the tubes were scratched up. I would bet ole Victor Genao is doing exactly what I previously mentioned.

Here's how to perform a tube swap:

I guess it won't be as helpful to you since you are getting a new monitor rather than replacing a burned one, but it might help with installation.

So as long as you have the chassis the game needs, you can do a tube swap for a normal TV? Sorry, not very familiar with this part of the the hobby.
