Hello,

I am considering attaching my 19-1 board to an old g07 or upgrading to a newer 13' (or 19') LCD. I have seen and read that LCD have issues related to pixels and correct display and general the idea seems to be that they look funny with older games. Given the 19-1 is a collection of older games, its it better to go with a CRT or can I get away with a LCD? Does it help if the LCD is a smaller size? Thanks.

most here hate the LCD's....so dont expect much out of that crowd saying yes.

as far as the quality...if you have an HD TV and you have ever watched a channel in non-HD then that's sort of what the deal is....the quality of the game is not up to the quality of the display so it makes it look sort of off.

If you have an LCD on your computer, run MAME on it and you will see what to expect...if you can live with it, then its a great option.

It's personal preference. To most of us here, playing these games on an LCD just looks weird. Personally, I can't stand the look of an LCD in an arcade machine. These games were intended to look good on a CRT, and that's where they're going to look right.

But... if you haven't seen real arcade machines before, or haven't in a long time, the LCD seems "better" somehow. Non-hobbyists seem to think the LCD looks better most of the time, either because they haven't seen the real thing, or they just assume that it's supposed to look like what they see on the LCD.

Again. It's up to you. These bootleg multiboards have VGA connectors, so you can plug in a PC LCD monitor and see what you think. You can't run both monitors at the same time, but you can switch back and forth with relative ease.

I have a pretty good history with games etc. But I have yet to see these old games on an lcd. There are some advantages to an lcd. Weight and style ( for resale not personal use) are large considerations. Off seem in general less maintenance free (ie no cap kits). They ate also a supported tech, so parts info etc. can be obtained. If it were just for my machines, I would bust out a crt. The build I am considering involves a cocktail with a 19-1. It seems to me there are also advantages to nrwer power supplies etc. and not dealing ith extra parts vets rewuire is always nice for a lay cobsumer. Still my mainconcern is look and feel for the game itself. Are lcds like crts in that smaller hides more of the graphical flaws? Or do you all feel I will end up with lego land if I run a 13" lcd with a 19-1?
