Anyone know how to disassemble this thing? I have one in a junior cocktail and it looks like if I remove all the connections (and screws) the metal plate holding all the pcbs, it'll come out without the tube. Can anyone confirm?

they suck to take apart.

it would be a hour video on the thing if it were ever done.

i have taken several apart in years past but never the same way twice.
i don't even remember where to start.

take your time.

don't break the neck. that is easy to do on that monitor.

yeah I'm gonna be real careful idk it looks weird.

yup yup.

be easy with those connections and don't let you hand slip.

to bad you are not closer, you could bring it by and i could help.

also TAKE lots of PICS on how it came apart.

Yeah I'm pretty experienced with monitors but in uncharted territories a hand would be nice. I'll have my dad close by for an extra hand. He's got surgeon hands like me. I'll get lots of photos for the klovers.

This is someone else's chassis but it appears that if everything is unhooked the chassis will slide out without the tube. This is what I was thinking not sure tho.

Edit:my chassis does work and look fine but the caps are original and I dont trust the sanyo ones.

I wouldn't be that worried about sanyo caps. They were some of the best caps on the market. They have since been sold to other companies (panasonic, sunco) but still remain good quality.

When I capped my 20ez almost all the sanyo caps were bad... Idk but I dont like them ever since then.

Okay I just capped this thing and I could not get pictures while disassembling the thing because it is very tough. The whole thing has to be pulled out and it just sucks. On the monitor someone had in 1991-2000 judging by the date codes replaced like 5 of the smaller capacitors including the audio amp. They used really crappy caps as well like nichicon vx's and xicons. Some of the original caps were bulged and leaking but yet the thing was working fine before. The caps were on their last legs. I did the whole thing except the two transistors which I didn't feel like doing and it had 4 legged rubycon filter cap which was a big pain to remove. It looks a little better now and starts up like 2-5 seconds quicker but overall hated the process loved the results.

Little extra on the side also replaced the 2 pos. pots on the game pcb.

glad it worked out.

Sorry I couldn't get the pics, its actually pretty straightforward its just very careful work. It takes one hand to hold the tube and one to remove screws in some parts so that leaves nothing for the camera and i didn't want to neck to tube so I just did what I needed to do on this thing.
