I just bought an 18arcade wheeler arcade. 1999 sit down version. Horn does not work. Is this a common problem. Anyone shed some light on this would be greatly appreciated.
I remember from our old one that it doesn't use a typical switch assembly to trigger the horn, but rather an optic sensor that the shaft passes through.
one day the shaft started sticking and no amount of grease or oil could un-stick it. luckily we wound up just selling the gd game instead.
FWIW though, I think the optics got blocked on ours and the horn sounded all the time a few years back.. you might wanna get a toothbrush and some rubbing alcohol in there and rub it on the two halves of the optic assembly with the game powered off or the connector to the optics disconnected to clean it out and let it dry for awhile before trying it again. and by awhile, I mean like 10 minutes should suffice cause the alcohol evaporates fast.
one could only wish.. if our 18 Wheeler wasn't so abused previously and wasn't such a pain in the ass for me to work on I probably would've liked it a lot more. we had a deluxe one and the projection screen went out on it. wound up selling it telling the people they could easily get away with a flat panel TV as a replacement, should've saved them some room at their house or whatever.
yeah, one time when I was working on it, I mustered up the nerve to actually beat the game. and then I did it again. another one of my "epic real life challenges".
