Nobody's talking about these on arcade-museum, so I decided... why not start a dialogue?
It's a cool idea! My kids loved testing the unit a distressed mom sent to me for repair. Her kids were board gaming on it
5 days a week prior to its failure and my inevitable involvement. Exactly ONE DAY after the extended warranty expired.
They come with a 3 months warranty that doesn't cover this repair or anything else important as far I can tell. @Arcade1up please feel free to leave a reply and correct me on this! I'm just here reporting stories from a dozen flabbergasted normies on Reddit and the Best Buy comments section.
A brief online troll revealed that the 3-month or 6-month brick is SHOCKINGLY COMMON. One guy on BestBuy.ca exclaims (paraphrased) "I'm on my third one in 6 months and they all fail in the same way!
Here she is, ready for a deep dive with a soldering iron. Or however I'm going to fix this weird thing. See how they made these exactly the size of a cocktail arcade? Smart! They can use the same tempered glass they already source. Boost those profit margins! I ain't mad, in fact I'm frantically taking notes.
They hid their sins against the consumer casually underneath 20 phillips screws. It's almost like they wanted to get caught!
Ok, a few more screws. Lets look at that nerve center

mmmmm, she's still got that new assembly line smell! Everything looks mint. No spills, no corrosion, no cap damage, nothing!
Some people fixed it by replacing the power supply. Although this one tests fine, 12.18v vs a 12.35 new one. A little low, but still above threshold right? RIGHT????
I'm averse to a cease and desist from A1U so I'm going to pause my narrative here & link to a blog post someone put up recently on our website. Oh wait... that was me

. Dead internet theory confirmed??
[FIX] Arcade1up Infinity Table No Power Repair
These things sure are
great once you bypass the completely unnecessary (pending tests of a new unit) 5ohm resistor choking out the 12v mains so it drops
juuuuust below threshold voltage after a few months!
