The -15 Voltage regultaor( 7915) blew on my asteroids PCB. Would anyone know what would have caused this?? What does the -15 run on asteroids??

Also, i changed the lamp holder for the coin light to get it working, would that have blown the -15 regulator??

anyone know?

I think in some cases those regulators just get hot and go; there's no heat sink so nothing to stop it from just baking. I would just replace and see what happens.

Ps now you just reminded me what I forgot to order GRRRRR...

yeah thanks jeff, thats what im thinking... Ill just replace it and see what it does...

The Op amps and some other parts in the X/Y output runs off of that -15 (7915). They also run off a separate +5 (7805) and another +15 (7815). If the 7915 is blown to bits then something is wrong in that section. If its just dead then it probably failed after all these years.

Check the diodes coming off the 36VAC... if one of those shorted, it'd make quick work of the regulator.

ok well i repalced the -15 volt regulator and the (2) 3amp fuses are still blowing.. the regulator is holding, it didnt burn up or anything...

now i know its the pcb cause i turned the machine on by each part.. i turned the machine on with jst the monitor and no fuses blew.. then i hooked up the AR board turned it on and the fuses are still good.. As soon as i plug the PCB in and turn it on the fuses blow!!

any ideas???
