What is everyone using to test 12v DC components? Ie, i want to supply a 12volt source to something (Arcade, Automotive, etc) and see what happens... (continuity, voltage drop, item powered/works, etc). What are y'all using and where did you get it? Thanks!

For arcade related things I use a switching power supply, for automotive I just use the battery. If I am not working in my car I use my portable jump start box.

Well, this probably isn't the best option but I ordered a 48vct power supply for an audio amp and by mistake they sent me a 24vct power supply. They told me to just keep it and they did send the right one.. Anyways.. a 24vct works like this.. two prongs take in the 115 wall outlet power and the 3 outlet prongs output the following power. 12V, 0ground, 12V.. So you can use just one prong and the ground for 12 volts of juice, or use both and the ground for 24 volts. Probably not the best but hey, it could work. And it's isolated..

Parts express is where I got mine. Easiest is probably just the switching power supply that Oryk mentioned

A 12vdc bench power supply. I have a couple of them. One is 12vdc 10A and the other I can select multiple voltages. For PCBs I have a switcher built into my jamma rig.
