10in Sharp touch screen monitors/ With pics, and info

Yeah, the Internet Archive is down right now. I tried the mirror in Egypt earlier, but it wasn't working. The driver zip I downloaded had both DOS and Windows 3.x in it. There was an application note explaining how to Setup the driver for Windows 95. It will likely work on 98 if it works on 95.

The dos/windows driver and the Win95 application note were small enough to attach. Please report back if you get it working on 95 or 98 and Enjoy!

Thanks,

Thanks VJ! :) I have a question about the Serial cable. Is there a special pin out? Or are you using a normal DB9 Serial cable?

I used two female DB9 to RJ-45 adapters and an ethernet cable. :) It is functioning as a normal serial cable and not a null modem. I just didn't have the right cable or gender bender handy and have quite a few of the adaptors that I did use. Anyway, no special pin out.

OK cool. Thanks. I was using a standard DB9 serial cable and thought maybe there could have been a pin out issue. I will give it a shot in Win95 and report back.

Thanks again VJ :)

No problem. You can test the output from the touch panel by just loading up Hyperterminal and setting it to 1200 baud 7 data bits and 2 stop bits. When you touch, you will see the data spew to the screen. If you touch one quickly, it would look something like this...

*0081*X*

The * is actually something like a diamond character. The numbers are the coordinates of the touch in a pair and backwards. So 00 is actually Y and 81 is X. The X is part of the protocol indicating an Exit (Up) event if I remember correctly. If you do a drag your finger around you will see a bunch more coordinates with a T as the event type. This is from memory so it may be a little different, but with the right COM connection and settings, you will be able to make out the event data to verify a good COM connection. Just don't forget to ground the metal chassis (that the touchscreen and LCD mount to) to the ground on the line filter or it won't output anything.

Good Luck!
