$100 Asteroids Deluxe

...and also the 'mother ship' that breaks into 3 or 4 ships when hit, then each of those break into two ships when it, before they are eventually destroyed. They also relentlessly chase you.

AD is one of my favorite games too. Yours also has the glare reduction bezel on it.

Great catch!

Oops, I should have mentioned that too.

I hate those guys...

Visually, the biggest difference is that AD uses a half-silvered mirror and black light-lit artwork, so that the graphics appear to float over a background. The effect is really nice. Game is harder.

Well that wins it hands down.

What are you guys' scores? This game seems pretty hard, and I feel pretty awesome if I can get to the 3rd level.

I'm in the same boat as you right now. My understanding is that there were 2 versions of Asteroids Deluxe. The first was too hard, and operators complained, so a revised version was created that was easier.

I have an early board, so I compensated for the difficulty by cranking up the number of lives from 3 to 5. But yeah, the game is a real bear compared to Asteroids, where you can park yourself on a board with a single asteroid and rack up points shooting at the UFOs as they appear. On AD those suckers are like snipers, I swear...

I wonder if mine is the harder one. I haven't messed with the dips at all, but it's set for 2 lives per game with an extra at 10k.

Stop bragging damnit... I've been on the "list" for quite some time and have yet to receive an EMAIL let alone the kit...

Same here, but probably haven't been on the list as long as you have. Good (?) to know I'm not the only one that hasn't received so much as a reply, though.

Is Lunar Lander that fun? I guess I should've learned not to judge a game by its graphics when I got AD, but it just looks boring.

Have you ever played it before?

I can see how it wouldn't be some people's cup of tea, given its subtlety, but I think it's a pretty addictive game myself. It's all about precision, not speed.

Never. Thus the question. :p

Just wondering if it's worth getting on the list since I already have the superior version of Asteroids.

Asteroids also had an updated ROM version to fix the initial release which was deemed too "easy." http://www.brasington.org/arcade/products/adl/ast-rev2a.jpg This is what the Asteroids on the Braze HS Save Kit runs, AFAIK.

I, too, emailed about being "on the list" some time ago; and I have never recieved any confirmation or other communication. I was considering emailing Scott again, but I don't want to be a nag...

What level do the ships that split show up? I've never seen one of those yet.

Edit: Oh wait, yes I have. That thing is the worst.
