$100 Asteroids Deluxe

I picked up an AD (playing blind) in beautiful condition on CL a week or two ago. The guy said its been home use for the last 15 years and I believe him. The inside was absolutely spotless, and the outside just needed a wipe down. $20 in parts later, and it's running like a champ.

I had never played Asteroids before and I had planned on reselling it, but it's fun as hell! My top score is just under 15k, keeping this one for sure.

I actually just got two of these, picked one up on CL for 100 with a spare monitor, it powers but lots of disconnected wires etc. I plan to get one going with the 2 cabs, 3 monitors, 3 boardsets and lots of extra parts,,,, it is fun and that cab looks great...

Wow, great score for $100! Why didn't you title this thread "What a $100 AD looks like"? Seriouly though, that is a clean AD, that was a steal at that price. Congrats. Now, if only the Braze kit would be released...

is the interior blacklight working? Game looks amazing when it works.. You probably need to clean the mirror too.

AD is far better than asteroids. I got multi kit in the mail on friday. If I have the time, I will install it and take it to CAX..

Nah, it's working. It's just really hard to pick up with my camera, I haven't figured out the right settings yet.

Visually, the biggest difference is that AD uses a half-silvered mirror and black light-lit artwork, so that the graphics appear to float over a background. The effect is really nice. Game is harder.

Gameplay-wise, the biggest difference is that AD has a "shields" button instead of "hyperspace" like Asteroids does.
