Suggestion, Build your own house and do the following...

....To make it good:
  • Get at least 10ft ceilings in the basement, so you can have a drop ceiling and still fit a bug blue.
  • Insulate it well, nothing worse than a cold basement.
  • Have enough power outlets in the basement, and enough circuits.
  • It is good to have the basement divided so if you need to sand and paint a cabinet you don't have to clean everything afterwards. I am thinking of making a small sanding/painting room
To keep her happy:
  • Have an intercom to the rest of the house (so she doesn't think you are hiding from her, and if she needs help you can be right there.)
  • Have a baby monitor.
  • Reserve enough space to store her stuff somewhere (attics don't count).
  • Ventilation so she doesn't have to breathe paint fumes.

This is what a basement arcade should look like (not mine)

your living room is like twice as big as mine,so you are lucky from the looks of things.and i am 7 floors up,in a tower high rise in uk.
:)

Yea, no elevator in this place unfortunately, but it has only taken me and 1 other person to move these up the steps, first flight, appliance dolly, second flight, we have to hand carry it, me on the bottem of course...

So far there hasnt been a 400lb arcade falling on top of me. I plan to get about four more, maybe one in the bedroom like a neogeo, killer instinct 1, (another) mk3 cab, midway sportstation, total carnage dedicated!! Then i will be done with the apt.

Btw, power bill isnt too bad eigther, with a fiance who pretty much is home during the day other than school, $106 a month!

I run the machines maybe every other day for 1 - 2 hrs, weekends, especially if people are over maybe 3 - 4 hrs.

Wargods would be working 100% however it still needs a med res monitor, and power supply. I had it working kinda sorta on std res monitor doing the dipswitch test, however it turns out the wargods that is switchable between med and std res, only works on a wargods Kit, not a dedicated board....

Ill try and get some up to date vids of the setup and post a link here.

Since I have to walk up 9 + 2 stairs to get to the 1st floor where I live, even though I live on the "2nd" floor it might be considered the "3rd" floor. And with the twists and turns using a dolly is not possible, and people are amazed I was able to get these up here.

I have 12 games. Only 8 will reasonably fit in one room and I intend to get rid of the other 4.

The Atari cabs I have like Asteroids, Star Wars and Millipede were no picnic, but I'm a big guy and I always do the lifting while my friend does the guiding from the top.

How are you NOT blowing a circuit for an apartment electrical service, that's what I want to know. Assuming you turn them all on at once you are running about 2 amps per game...

You are crazy. It should be fun moving them all out one day. At one point I had 4 in a first floor condo and that was crazy enough. now I have 10 in my house and I'm done, I actually want to get rid of some when my brother buys a house. I like versatility in an arcade so I would definitively recommend a Neo Geo cab. You should probably have a generic mame cab too, just something with 2 sticks and 6 buttons will cover thousands of games including all the neo games but I still like that cab with a 100+ in 1 cart, instead of dedicating 20 sq feet or whatever to Mortal Kombat 1 or war gods, which probably won't get a lot of play.

Also I think your fiance is 1 in a thousand if not more rare than that, or maybe I'm just unlucky, any of the women I've dated would dump my ass in a second if I had 7 arcade games in a 3rd story condo. I catch enough flak for having 10 in a 2100 sq foot house with a dedicated game room. then again the 10 lcd TVs and 7 xbox 360s probably don't help either.

it doesn't take too much to run 7 arcade games. from my experience you can typically have around 5 on one small (15A) breaker without much trouble. so if he can get to two breakers it's no problem at all, hell it isn't uncommon these days to see PCs with 1000 watt power supplies, one of those running full tilt is around the same as 4 arcade games, right? and I really don't even know what I'm talking about. I just got the guys who finished my garage to go overkill on the power so I don't have to think about it.

Ha... you are as bad as me. I have 2 cocktails, 2 pins, 1 UR and 4 cabarets... in the living room of my 2nd floor, 2 bedroom apartment (along with a sectional sofa, chair and 42 inch LCD TV). I have another pin in my bedroom and a cocktail, pachislo and pachinko in my son's bedroom. Here's the best part... about 15 games in my 1 car garage that I rotate in and out of the apt to keep it all fresh. Guess who helps me bring the games up and down the stairs... my landlord!
My girlfriend just shakes her head but hasn't tried an intervention yet.

I think i am crazy too.... In my 2 bedroom 980 sq ft Upstairs apartment i have 10 uprights and 2 cocktails..... Tempest and Missle Command in the living room with two love seats and a Asteroids cocktail for a coffe table and a Donkey Kong cocktail for a computer desk. Pole Position, Scramble, and a Marble Madness in dining/kitchen along with a table. Sinistar, Clutch hitter, jungle king, and Speed Rumbler in guest room with a futon bed. OutRun in master with a king size bed. Its a second pad for me in Dallas because im here on business alot. The wife does the decorating at home and i am in charge at apartment....true Arcade Apartment ha ha....

That's amazing.
Nice feng shui to use the cocktails as furniture.
I have thought about a 'murphy bed' (folds up to the wall when not in use) for my son's room... then I could stick a few more games in there.

Thats awesome!!I bet that room looks hot at night with all the game on and light off.. my only concern is its on the third floor and that room looks like its gonna collapse if someone walks in with a 30 pack of key stones.
