Some dude on "Pawn Stars" tonight was trying to get $1,500 EACH for a Dig Dug, plus a Japanese fighter and dodgeball game. The hosts, as well as myself all broke out in laughter as soon as that amount came out of his mouth. He ended up settling for $600 for all three games as a GROUP. They patiently explained to him why there was no way in hell they could give him that much for each machine. Some people, I tell ya...

Yea I just saw that episode tonight, what are those 3 actually worth? Individually? And were they original?

I think they overpaid for those. They paid $600 for all 3.
They were Dig Dug, Yie Ar Kung-Fu, and Super Dodge ball. The Kung-fu and Dodge ball were in converted Defender cabs I think. The Dig Dug was in pretty good shape though.

Besides the outrageous prices, what I found to be hilarious was the over-dramatization of calling them "Japanese" games. The way they were talking, they sounded like uncommon Japanese imports.

Yeah, when he said $1500 EACH, I had to run to the john to relieve myself. $200 each seems pretty good, but not great prices. The Dig Dug alone is about $400.

I had the same reaction to both to the price and the "Japanese" cabs. $600 seemed fair, but you know they will be marked up to $1500 each, assuming they actually bought them, and this wasn't purely for TV purposes. Besides, they sell for more than that on eBay (a line I'm surprised the seller didn't use)

To which the Pawn guys would say..then go sell them on e-bay.

Love the show for entertainment purposes only but, do you honestly think that Rick knows all the history about every item that comes through his pawn shop? If you want to sell an item on the show, you have to submit what you have via their website. Then, the producers will see what the rarity of the item is and if interested they will contact you. Most likely they will have the history of the item rolled out on cards for Rick so it looks like he knows all about the item. I think the negotiations happen before the person even gets to meet Rick.

I thought the Dig Dug was really nice from what I could tell, I'd have paid $400 for it. I went to their website and ebay auctions but it wasn't up or available.
