Ok well I went out at 11:30 last night and innocently decided to play for a few minutes. Well that turned into 1 hour and 50 minutes.

and in game number 3 on my new machine. I cleared 1 million on my tron.

And in case anybody wondered, the mother fu__cker rolls at a million.
now we know. I could show a picture but it's a score of 4,000. As soon as I saw it rolled and was a little bent and killed myself.

I was down to 1 man around 350,000 and ran off 650,000 on my last man before killing him on purpose.
anyway, I said I wouldn't post again until I cleared a million and I did so , I am.

Nice score there! Whats the TG record? Is it within reach? 650k on last man and killing him off sounds impressive.

Hec

Oh hey! I got 2,039,000 last night too. Let me get the pic - it only shows 39,000, but you get the idea... :D

Kidding of course. I didn't have a chance to respond to the other thread, but congrats on getting your Tron back after all this time. I'd grouped the Tron ww in with those other records in the "will never be broken" thread, but I have to admit that if you can score 1M, its just time and focus to break the record.

Keep at it and keep us posted please.

What the hell?

I can't get past the 3rd level. i love/hate the game!

What's the secret?

I get pwned by the tanks.

Back in the day, my dad had a game for the IBM pc that only had lightcycles in a 3d/isometric view. When you won a game, the computer just drew another table slightly above the last one. The game kept getting faster, and the red line kept growing more appendages(light cycles). That game was badass, and was superior to Tron IMO. I wish I could get a copy of it.

yeah I was banking on the credibility I have built up with the first 2 pictures I put up.
I know it's a yeah right. But who knew the machine would roll?
And fly, the WR is 7million. And there is no doubt in my mind I can get that. But it is a 14 hour world record I beleive. based on the 2 hours it took to get a million.
ok off to work.
I did consider dying at 999,99x but then I also wondered if it went 7 digits or not.

Yes, did you follow the proper Twin Galaxies rules? Do forget to submit the tape to Robert Mruczek, and make him put down those porno paintings and watch your video.

Yeah mymachine is set to factory settings (twin galaxy settings)

I need to get a video set up that will take for 12+ hours I guess. I mean I am a long way away, but I could start by getting the 5th or 6th place score up I suppose, and see if they are going to trust video's from me.

If you do that, please stream your attempt, and let us know in advance! Would love to have to going in the background all day... check out something like justin.tv, it's pretty simple to get going.

In all seriousness - I've read every one of your Tron scoring related posts, and have absolutely no question about credibility. I'm thrilled that there is interest and activity in going after some of these old world records. I never knew the score flipped, and am glad to know it.

In regards to your other post, if you want to deal with TG (and you already know you'll get various conflicting opinions from here on whether they are fair, whether it's worth it, and all kinds of other debates) you're on the right track saying you should first submit a lower, shorter record. It would work well to establish a relationship with one of the referees, get practice with taping and properly documenting the game, etc.

My first attempt to submit a score was denied due to not following their overly strict submission guidelines. That said, contrary to others' experience, I was treated very fairly and professionaly by Stephen Boyer, the referee I dealt with, despite having no prior relationship with anyone associated with TG. He was sympathetic to the frustration I felt and very helpful in my quest to put together a real submission.

The main thing is, a single, unbroken video that shows the game power on, shows the game settings, shows it coin up, full gameplay that allows the score, as well as the players hands to, to be seen, then shows the final score, pans around to the back of the machine to show that no external wires are entering, shows the PCB. I'm not sure how that would work with a marathon title, but I'd love to see it.

Put up a score dude. Establish a relationship with Steven Boyer first. Ask him if he'd be interested in watching a long Tron video. Asking first is the right thing to do. He's very strict but very fair. That's the way it has to be. I'd personally love to see a live streaming vid myself. With my big score on Tron being 54K; I need some pointers!

Ok, now whats your secret? I am lucky to get 37,000........

By 1,000,000 there has got to be 50 tanks on the tank level, and the MCP level is in light speed.

The game gets to a point to where it repeats the levels over and over again. The tanks do get tough but you just have to be ready for them.

Matt

the game recycles the levels I wanna say starting at assembly, and I believe it's a 10 level pattern,(though I would have to check the notes I took last year) with the cycles being different every 5th level.

I have heard from someone that on the 250th level or so, the game gets a lot easier. I have imagined that to be around 2million points.

For most the cone is the hard part. Last night I lost all 3 of my lives on spiders. The level where you are surrounded. I moved a little to early and ran into the spiders before the level every really started. It was a bummer. But then I got in a zone. :O)

You would probably need to capture video to a hard disk for that kind of time. There are other ways but that would be easiest (IMHO).
