GENERAL FORUM USE GUIDELINES:
Guideline #1. DON'T ATTACK OTHER USERS. The most important rule of the form concerns the abuse of other members. The board follows a general 'do unto others as you would want to be treated' policy. Don't abuse, attack, insult, or bait other posters, even those most deserving. Don't bait or attack the admins or moderators. If a user posts (or sends PM, or tags a post) abusively, report the thread for further review. If you have a concern with a post, report it. If you a concern with a user, it can be discussed with the moderators. If you have a concern about a moderator, please feel free to discuss it with an admin. Alternatively, you may post in the Member Concerns & Grievances section: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=104
Guideline #2. AVOID OFFENSIVE CONTENT. Please refrain from posting anything offensive, overtly sexual, inappropriate photos, etc. For the benefit of our general user base, please limit use of objectionable language. In no case should objectionable language be used in any manner that might be construed as a direct insult or attack (rule #1 above). Posts should be non-controversial and non-offensive to the vast majority of members or the public at large. Do not post political or religious messages (outside of the politics sub-section), hateful or racist content, depictions of extreme violence, body secretions, or any other content likely to offend.
Guideline #3. READ THE FOR-SALE RULES BEFORE POSTING THERE. If you wish to participate in the For Sale or Wanted sections, please read the additional related guidelines:
http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=215218
Guideline #4. READ THE CAAA RULES BEFORE POSTING THERE. If you wish to participate in the "Chat About (Almost) Anything" section, please look at the sticky post at the top of that section:
http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=96817
Guideline #5. MODERATE YOUR OWN BEHAVIOR, USE AND RESPECT THE VOLUNTEER MODS. Do you part to help keep these forums friendly, orderly, and helpful. If you see a post that is clearly problematic, please report it to the moderators using the 'report post' button found at the top right of each post. Moderators are volunteers who donate time to help these forums operate smoothly. They may not be able to address every concern.
Guideline #6. DON'T BE SLEAZY, DON'T HAVE MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS, DON'T SHILL, DON'T LEAVE FALSE CONTACT INFORMATION IN YOUR ACCOUNT SETTINGS. If you feel you have a legitimate reason to have more than one account in your household (ie: husband and wife accounts, or personal and business), contact us as early as possible. Additionally, leaving false contact information at signup, including failure to include legitimate information in required fields (ie: First and Last Name), leaves your account subject to potential sudden and permanent ban. It is ok to leave optional fields blank, though it is not ok to leave incorrect information in optional fields. If necessary, please update your account now by logging onto the main site and then clicking 'Edit Account'.
Guideline #7. RESPECT THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF OTHERS; INDIVIDUALS WHO REPEATEDLY INFRINGE THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS WILL HAVE THEIR ACCESS REMOVED (DMCA). All users have agreed to respect the intellectual property rights of others. Holders of intellectual property rights may file claims against individual forum posts pursuant to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Valid and complete claims may result in the removal of one or more specified posts. Posts incorrectly removed (ie: illegitimate claim, fair use defense, etc.) may be restored by the user by filing a simple counter-claim form with us. Uncontested removals will count against the user in a similar way to a determination of infringement by a court of competent jurisdiction will count against the user. Individuals who repeatedly infringe the copyrights of others will lose their access to our services. For more information on filing a copyright claim, what your options are if you receive notice that one has been filed against you, and consequences of repeat infringement can be found on our DMCA Copyright Claims Page located at: http://www.arcade-museum.com/accounts/copyright-claims.php

GENERAL FORUM Q&A:
I'm using the forum search function and not finding posts I expected to find. Any suggestions?
It helps to understand how the database works. Searches for some words (ie: 'despite', 'new', or 'accordingly') will not produce any results. Common words are excluded from many indexes used by the forums in particular but also by some aspects of the main site. Words filtered out typically fall into one of two categories: (1) Any word that would appear in 50% or more of searches (ie: things that are part of the forum templates like 'Search'.), and (2) Anything that appears in the default list of excluded words by the database. In particular, items on this list: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/fulltext-stopwords.html
I am a forum user. How do I set up my VAPS profile?
Go to www.arcade-museum.com, click on 'VAPS', and then sign in with the SAME account you sign in with when you visit the forums (use your email address instead of username). Then when you click on 'VAPS', the system may tell you that you have a valid account, but no VAPS profile, and ask if you want to continue. Do so. PLEASE NOTE: Many people are setting up NEW accounts ('Register a New Account') when they want to 'add VAPS'. Please do not do so, as you will be unable to link your VAPS account with your forum account if they are in separate profiles.
While looking at my private messages, my inbox has all my old messages, but none of my sent messages are saved in the 'Sent' Folder. How do I fix this?
Click on 'User CP', then 'Edit Options'. There is an option near the end of the page regarding whether or not to automatically save your sent messages. Change it accordingly. The system will save your sent messages from that point on.
Is there an alternate address to use to visit the forums?
Due to settings in corporate firewalls that incorrectly tag these forums as a place to play 'arcade' video games, some visitors may trouble visiting these pages from work. If this affects you, please contact us. Also, alternative URLs for the main site are http://iam.webmagic.com/ and http://www.klov.net/
Are there any policies concerning avatars (images that display under your username on every post)?
Avatars should be non-controversial and non-offensive to the vast majority of members of the public at large. Do not use images that contain the likeness of another person, overt sexuality, hateful or racist content, extreme violence, political messages, or any other content likely to offend. Images used elsewhere on the site should likely not contain content likely to be deemed controversial or offensive.
iTRADER:
Is it appropriate to give iTrader ratings for deals that didn't result of a conversation on this forum?
Yes, iTrader ratings are appropriate for all deals between members, including deals made in person, eBay, or other web sites.
I and someone else left negative iTrader ratings for each other. The issue has been resolved. Can you delete the ratings?
If both parties jointly request that the feedback they gave each other be deleted then we may accommodate.
What about negative ratings, is there anything I should know?
No single user is allowed to give any other user more than 2 negative feedback ratings, regardless of the amount of transactions 'gone bad' between them. Language that might be considered obscene by some must not be included in the rating. Also, calling someone else names isn't nearly as useful to third parties as explaining why you are unhappy.
Where do iTrade ratings show up, and why doesn't everyone show up in iTrader's "Browse All Members" function?
These ratings show up in the for sale and wanted forums, and also in the membership list found inside the 'Community' menu item. Note just because someone has a rating doesn't mean that they will show up in the iTrader menu under 'Browse All Members'. In order to be listed in that directory, you have to select the 'Your Options' choice under the iTrader menu and then fill in a short description for what you are looking for and/or the types of things you have for sale.
Is there anything else worth knowing about iTrader?
Up to 3 ratings may be left in one day, but not to the same user. Also, multiple iTrader ratings by the same member to the same target count as one (1) in the Feedback Score even if the person bought different items at different times. This is by design.
