Ha! It has a multitude of uses, as well as washing dishes. I've often wondered, is Simple Green the US equivalent, or is that just a general detergent?

Frankly whatever's to hand. Any household detergent gets the job done. I've used the equivalent of your Tide pods before now, or Fairy Liquid, which is a dish detergent. Chuck the loom into a bucket of boiling hot water with the detergent to soak for a few hours. Once the water has cooled down...

It is rather phallic isn't it? Someone more knowledgeable than me can chime in here, but I think the Atari cabarets were shipped without the artwork, but operators could mail in and request the art - but of course few did. I might be wrong, but I think the story goes something like that.
