It IS possible to fix color issues with a cap kit because the color signals go through some 10uf25v caps on the neckboard and if they are going bad you'll get color problems. It's also possible the contrast and brightness circuits can be affected. And if the 12v circuit gets affected it can...

A couple other things to check: 1) check that the focus wire to the neckboard is in completely and secured. If it isn't it can cause focus issues. 2) Take off the neckboard and check the focus pin on the neck. I've seen a bent, dirty, or broken-but-barely-hanging-on pin cause this. Check...

Are you sure that it's not a U5000? Most Cruisn's are medium-res.

You may need an RGB to NTSC converter for a TV, depending on the TV.

Most of the ones that were 4-leg only had the large rectangle screenprint for C36 only and the ones that had 2 caps had two separate rectangle screenprints for both C36 and C39.

It has a 7400/7500 flowchart, and a U2000 flowchart which can be used for a lot of basic things on a U5000.

I just replaced a blown LV2000 Lite on a 6100. All the diodes and one transistor were shorted. Not sure if it was the cause or the result, but I found Q703 shorted, and three resistors near it burned up. Replaced those bad parts and put in another LV2000 and it worked fine.

You'd think so, but there are times when a good working neckboard from one version gives you problems with another version. Not to mention the U5000 neckboard has parts the others don't.
