    JP's S.T.U.N. RUNNER Restore

You should be able to loosen and move the coin door fasteners as pictured. The coin door should come right out once they are all moved aside.

Coin Counter The coin counter wasn't working. This may seem trivial, but I wanted to know why. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Xpmepug6BUntZVoRkOn5T1wgr7VyLOBg/view?usp=sharing Using a bench power supply, I was able to bump it manually. So, the counter itself was fine...

    Surprise Galaga Restoration

Free Games I have built something to coin up on this game without opening the coin door every time I play. This is heavily inspired by other really nice easy-credit products I've seen here on KLOV and on the web. The idea was to put a small, momentary switch in the coin return slot. I used...

Rapid Fire Board Thanks for all the positive comments and interest. Cool thanks. My posts usually end up being so boring quite technical. I think it would be great if I could provide helpful information for someone restoring a Galaga in the future. Plenty of others have posted helpful repair...

Coin Door Part 2 Here's the door re-assembled and installed. I'm happy with the result: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HjQKBD3NP0Z5LEdsz1z68cbhuewuiqup/view?usp=sharing The orginal bulbs were both burned out. I had these cheap little LEDs that fit in the sockets, but were too tall to...

    Surprise Galaga Restoration

Coin Door Part 1 The coin door was very rusty and needed to be completely stripped: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_12K0agciuQVg3g9vUtpNs8Ogf2e5Uhh/view?usp=sharing It would've been nice If I could've left the badge on, but there was too much rust underneath...

    Surprise Galaga Restoration

Display Fix I had noticed the display brightness and colors were intermittent, and wiggling the cables made it come and go. I had made a statement before that it must be the edge connector. That was a mistake. The video signal does not go through the 44 position edge connector on this machine...

PCB Repair Part 1 Thanks for all the good feedback. The point regarding offsite image hosting is well taken. I am as interested as anyone in keeping this info freely available to whomever may need it for as long as possible. From now on, I will embed images stored on KLOV in the thread and also...

G07 Monitor Work Yeah, usually I like it to be close to original too. But, I've got all these spare parts laying around already... Its good to use some of my surplus stuff! Monitor work: When I bought the game, it powered on to a white screen. I thought at the time it may just be the flyback...

Power Supply Initial measurements from the power supply showed no 5V output. Seemed dead. Visually, it looked really wilted: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KNOqp9B2vZ5wH_S3lTAYw-5novi22pmE/view?usp=sharing The original D4 and D5 must've burned up and been replaced. The smoke pattern was...

    Surprise Galaga Restoration

I think yellowing is a very valid concern. I would only do this in bad cases (like this one) where the art is flaking away fast. I used this process before on my old Ms Pac last year. So far so good on that one. I imagine the glazing will at least retard the yellowing oxidation and brittle-ing...

Transformers and Wiring Cleaning up the transformers and harnesses was next: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-zOfZp1S46NUljwihepwKdQJ9o9KTIyn/view?usp=sharing Like always, I removed the transformers, wire-wheeled the surface rust off, and masked the terminals for painting...

Cabinet Repair Next steps were to clean and repair the cabinet. I'm not sure how mud formed into this splatter pattern on the inside of the game. I don't think its mold. I'll use a light bleach concentration when I clean it just in case. The picture on the right shows the broken foot. The...

Bezel Repair The bezel artwork was delaminating from the glass in several large areas. It will be too far gone soon if it isn't stabilized: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BtUNjoJv2RLZZBnhTx5ycioIYi3co8zS/view?usp=sharing There were about 10 really loose areas. One piece had fallen off, but...

I think the best way for me to score a good local deal is to start thinking I have enough projects already. I was feeling content with my games and upcoming projects when this Galaga popped up locally for a great price. Of course I'm grabbing a Galaga! Non-working at pick up. The monitor...

    Q*Bert #2811

Q*Bert of Theseus First off, I did a few force measurements with this nifty gauge: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N3Q1RIEUNzF-3efm-DxWd5C6YLasvG3I/view?usp=sharing For all these measurements, I put the game into switch test and pushed the stick with the gauge until it registered. Here are...
