    OK, finally got a chance to look at this. I found a fix of sorts but no one is going to like it. There's no mix of settings that gets rid of the squiggly vectors on the text. My "fix" was to revert back to an older version of the firmware (v1.13c12), this version works perfectly...

    Yes, I did quickly try and adjust all the settings to find anything that might help. Nothing individually worked, its probably going to need a mixture of adjustments so I was asking just in case davek had found the magic incantation.

    Hey @davek did you ever get to the bottom of this? I've just run into the same issue (also on a g05-801). Monitor still works perfectly with a real Asteroids board, just the USB-DVG shows the funny loops on the text. I also can't really find any settings to make the Asteroids bullets super...

    They are just .wav files. Early versions of MAME used these instead of emulating the sound hardware. They go in the /sample folder iirc and can be found whereever you find MAME rom. If you're stuck I can probably dig out a set of the samples for VMame.

    Definitely in for 1! Been watching this since the beginning. My PP2 is on my last working boardset (PP). I'm running an Irish Atari PP2 with Namco PCB's so will need to make a harness unless that's an option on the finished boards.
