Confirmed no voltage fluctuation with that 8-pin connector disconnected from the HV cage. I'll pull it again and triple-check everything - just trying to avoid a shotgun approach if I can.

Do not overlook the 4 pots - they can absolutely cause the breakers to pop when they're flaky/bad (been there, done that). If your logic probe has a speaker, you can track the chatter through each of the respective parts(TL081's, LF33331, DAC, output of pots) to verify where you do/don't have...
