Ok so problem is solved. I ran a factory restore on both games and they linked right up. There must've been some setting that wasn't factory causing the boot loop. Thanks for the help everyone!!

It boots fine with the link cable disconnected.

So all linking is done via dip switches and those haven't changed. I'm going to verify voltages for giggles and will prob swap which game is master and slave to double check but at this point I wonder if the FireWire chip might be bad just speculation due to how the game is locking up and rebooting.

Just updating here for a record. Switching which machine was the master totally solved the issue. I'm wondering if this means you can't have a pair of exoticas where both monitors are LCD?
