  1. Asteroids doesnt do anything.

Unfortunately I dont, so I will have to try to track one down. Socket 40 doesnt do anything different with the CPU pulled. Is there anything else I can test or look at?
  2. Asteroids doesnt do anything.

Is that what the programmer is for? Can I buy a blank CPU and flash it do I just need to find someone parting out an old board?
  3. Asteroids doesnt do anything.

I think the button should be working because it cycles B6 10 right? And actually I think I need to retest all my numbers because I think I was counting pins wrong. Which pins should I test next?
  4. Asteroids doesnt do anything.

    Ok, so I finally got a logic probe and after doing a bit of research, I tested these pins on these chips and these are the readings I got. Hopefully this makes sense. 02 - signal CPU pin 40 - LO CPU pin 37 - signal D5 pin 1 - LO C5 - 4 - lo C5 - 6 - lo C5 - 7 - hi D4 - 8 - hi E4 - 10 - lo E4 -...
  5. Asteroids doesnt do anything.

I'm looking into it now, will I also need a UV eraser?
  6. Asteroids doesnt do anything.

So I cleaned and reseated the socketed chips. Some were fairly oxidized but I got them pretty clean with a fiberglass pen and eraser. The black ones looked like this, but the ones with the "window" looked fine. Plugged it all back in and still nothing even with the test switch and reset...
  7. Asteroids doesnt do anything.

Thank you so much for the detailed troubleshooting! I tested the AR at 6.2v. The 10.3v tested at 0.01v AC. I plugged in the board and adjusted it to 5v. All my dips are set to "on" which I believe is free play. I have no sound and the start buttons are still just solid red light.
  8. Asteroids doesnt do anything.

Oh sorry, all the green boards look the same in the thumbnail lol Yes, I did clean it up and reattach all the hanging boards. Thats just the initial state it was in. The CRT board is still setting at an angle like that, but its not touching anything or even plugged in currently because I read...
  9. Asteroids doesnt do anything.

So I recently got an Asteroids cabinet in pretty good looking condition, however it doesnt work. When I power it on I get a little bit of hum, and LEDs on the game board light up as well as the start buttons on the front. The neck does glow but there appears to be nothing on the screen. There...
  10. Arctic Thunder troubleshooting guide

What are the expected values for testing the steering and throttle? I think theres something wrong with my throttle and on the testing menu it only switches between 58 and 61 fully pressed. I assume it should be further apart than that. Is that a bad pot?
  11. Time Crisis wavy screen

Oh ya I'm not shocked it might need service, I'm just trying to troubleshoot why it was working fine before the power supply went out and right after I made that change it started doing this. I'm fine doing a cap kit, I just hope that's all it is and the other variable is just a coincidence.
  12. Time Crisis wavy screen

Oh even tho it only does it occasionally and consistently at the same place? I was thinking it might be voltage related.
  13. Time Crisis wavy screen

I have a Time Crisis 1 that does a weird wavy screen thing occasionally. I had an issue with it not power on before so I did a cap kit on the power supply and measured voltages and it seems to be working fine now other than that. It does it pretty cinsistently when you start the first level...
  14. Peter Chou PSU - 5v is impacting 12v (higher 5v = higher 12v)

I don't have an answer, but I actually had a similar question so Im following hoping someone else knows lol
  15. Recoil SF- X gun in a time Crisis

I have a Time Crisis 1 that works fine with a HAPP 45. I want to add recoil to it, but I was hoping to get away from paying $300 for a "NAMED" gun. I found one of these online and the guy said it works, but surprise it doesnt seem to. I can get it to fire, but it only works in the middle of...
  16. Rebuilding a Peter Chou USP-11-150X PSU

I actually just did mine today and found the same thing. Did you end up replacing it with the 10uf?
  17. Peter Chou USP-11-150X Repair

So I replaced the pot with a 2k and it actually works fine to adjust the 5v. The 12v only measures at about 10.1. Is that to be expected or is there something else wrong?
  18. Peter Chou USP-11-150X Repair

Can I just replace it? Do you know what kind it is?
  19. Peter Chou USP-11-150X Repair

I have a Time Crisis cabinet that started sporadically not booting. I pulled out the PSU and found it seems to only work sometimes. I have a multimeter connected to the 5v pins and when I go to adjust the 5v it seems to kill all the voltage and then something starts making a tiny squeal noise...
  20. Sammy shotgun

I pulled apart a working one to compare and noticed it has another ground wire going to the metal enclosure around the pcb. Is this necesary? Would not having it stop the sensor from working? I seem to be missing the other half so I hope it's not too important. I don't even really understand...
