    Super Off Road Repair Log(s)

Got the replacement boards in from Mike's Arcade. All of them work better now, but... Yellow worked for around 5 hours, but then began that exact behavior after that. (Turning left is jumpy, turning right is fine.) I could really use a replacement PAL.

    Super Off Road Repair Log(s)

I take the entire blue panel off, and plug it into either spot. Here's the weird thing - they'll start working, and then give out about 5-10 minutes into the game being on. It makes it suspect as to whether it's an opto problem or a board problem.

    Super Off Road Repair Log(s)

I have a super offroad doing this with Red and Yellow. However, when I plug in blue into either spot, it starts working immediately. I'm assuming that means that the optical encoders are bad, not the chips on the board. That said, is it still be possible those are bad? Did you ever post the PLD...

    Sega Outrun sound issues

Just wanted to add to this thread, had the exact same issue, those sounds not playing. Socketed the RAM at IC87 and IC91, and replaced them with Cy7C128. Mine was 35ns instead of the 25ns listed on twisty wrist, just bought them off eBay. Apparently, the original were 120ns, so anything less...

    Outrun Restoration Questions

I just got an Outrun with PCM sound missing, a typical problem. I'm going to start with this replacement, since it's a near identical problem. My original question was if 45ns RAM would work, but apparently it's tolerant up to 120ns based on another post. Twisty arcade is sold out of 25ns so I...

Centipede monitor going out after a few minutes

Re: Centipede monitor going out after a few minutes It has an adaptor, running multipede - It was working when I picked it up in Vegas, and was working when I dropped it off at his house. He said he'd pay me when he saw me. Long story - Promised my boss I'd get him a Centipede for his...

Centipede monitor going out after a few minutes

Re: Centipede monitor going out after a few minutes Ok, the 10.3V is displaying 11.8V. The 22 volts are displaying 23.5ish Did I fry his board? Please save me! (He isn't paying me until I fix it!) I should note this a milipede board in a centipede.

Centipede monitor going out after a few minutes

Re: Centipede monitor going out after a few minutes Oh god no.... I adjusted the 5V pot, and now the board does nothing but display random characters. Now it is displaying nothing at all.

Centipede monitor going out after a few minutes

I bought a Centipede from BrentRadio for my Boss - Now it is over at his place - the monitor clicks off after a few minutes. I'm not sure what monitor is in there, but I am not going to get easy or often access to this machine. It would be nice to get a list of all the things to check for when I...

    Best vector monitor

I don't think that is what he meant by none - I think he meant that vector monitors in general are unreliable. Has nothing to do with their beauty. A rose still has thorns, and the vector monitor thorns are a pain in the ass to deal with.

    Battlezone Mini Help

Hey all - just bought a BZ mini - few questions - First, I can't seem to tell whether I've got a WG19V2000 or a G05-802. http://www.therealbobroberts.net/monitor.html Actually, I've not yet fully removed the monitor, but I'm wondering if the 15" vector is a completely different cap kit from...

    Atari AR-I Asteroids help please

Have you consider the idea that it may be a problem with the harness? Asteroids is well known for the joke of having a harness that was only meant to be used twice. I'd say try your AR-I and his gameboard, to see if that fixed the problem. Also, have you checked the AC voltage at the output? The...

    asteroids pcb help

It sounds like the monitor to me. Obviously the Y deflection is off. Did you jar the monitor at all unplugging it? Also, your brightness is turned up way too high if it is displaying the horizontal line. Did you resolder the header connectors on the deflection board that connect to the chassis...

    Two Tapper Questions

I have a Tapper missing the brass rail - A replacement can be obtained from Phoenix Arcade, but they want $55 after shipping. They purchased the parts from lavi.com. I'd like to make my own, so can anyone here with an original tapper tell me the diameter or circumfrence of their brass rail...

    @$%^ Asteroids problems

Wee, my first post! Ok, 1st: The vertical problem. that is the chasis transistors. Two possible problems - Either the Chasis transistors went bad, or, more likely, the solder joints broke. G05s are notorious for cold solder joints. Those can and most definately will break when you move the...
