WTB: Security IC used in Popeye

I was bored over the weekend, so I removed all of the code that utilized the ALU from Sky Skipper and patched all the data that required the shifter. The new code seems to run in MAME, but I need to pull out some original hardware to test it for real.

WTB: Security IC used in Popeye

Wrong. ...and there's no reason for the unprotected ROM set to NOP the $e000-e001 address (actually aliased all the way out to $FFFF, but MAME is seldom accurate) since the unprotected code simply doesn't do anything with the results of the protection reads...

    G05-801 - G05-802 Adapter Needed

This isn't like tube swapping from a TV... it's just a matter of pulling the anode wire and yoke connector. I should still have a handful of spare B&W tubes hiding in the attic.

WTB: Security IC used in Popeye

I don't have a Popeye to test with, and with the de minimus exemption on tariffs gone, I haven't been making boards, but if MAME is correct, this should work:

WTB: Security IC used in Popeye

If the function of the "ALU" is as simple as the MAME source code claims it is, it'd be pretty easy to make a PLD to replace it -- or even do it with a handful of TTLs. It's oddly similar in function to the MB14241 used on space invaders.

Swap the tube and yoke from the 802 onto the 801, and use the 801 harness and chassis.

WTB: Security IC used in Popeye

He's prob not actually looking to fix a Popeye -- he's prob trying to make a Sky Skipper, which doesn't have an (publicly available) unprotected ROM set.

6116 only has 24 pins. That has 28. That's the little ALU that they mess with for lame "security".

Never got around to fabbing my redesign :(

    WTB DL/SA power supply

Need to retest, but this is out of a cab with a dead LDP.

    Wanted: Midway Galaga sound amp

A "Midway Galaga sound amp" is an MB3730 and won't do you any good on your bootleg board, dimwit.

    Signetics SC2622 / 2622N NTSC IC

...that's why I differentiated between what did and didn't need to be measured.

    Signetics SC2622 / 2622N NTSC IC

The divide ratios are trivial The position and width of the sync and blank would need to be measured.

    Signetics SC2622 / 2622N NTSC IC

Kinds similar to the Namco 07xx, but with fewer outputs. You could probably cobble a replacement together with a few GALs if the datasheet gives accurate timing diagrams.

Stern (Super Cobra) Power Supply adapter to use switcher from High Score Saves

I probably have some ATX to Stern adapters left, but you'd need to find an older ATX supply with -5V. APAR might stock what you're looking for though.

    WTB - 20” - 38” Tri-sync / multi scan monitor (New England)

I've got a new 27" Wells Gardner (still has the plastic on the screen) labelled WG R2700-U0TS35K on the frame (which I believe to be Tri-Sync 35kHz). Never tested it since it uses a mini-fit jr as a signal connector instead of normal power + 6-3 video. I'll look through old pics to see if I...

    Looking for Sky Skipper ROMS

Grounding A11 could definitely give you solid blocks for sprites. If you look at the sprite data in MAME, the first 18 tiles are solid colors.

    Looking for Sky Skipper ROMS

I haven't looked at Popeye hardware in a while, but most Nintendo hardware has no way of reading back the sprite RAMs, so they can't be tested. You likely have a bad bit on the DJ bus, but the problem could lie anywhere between the 1/2 R/S/T/U rams, the 1/3 M/P rams, the 1/2/3 L latches up to...

    WTB: Atari Dominos PCB

I've got a few (unpopulated) redesigned boards left if you can't find an original board. ..or if you want to sell me a cab to put my board in :)
