I've read that Congo Bongo used 8-way sticks at 45 degree angle but I could be wrong. Looking back at your original post, I guess this was originally a Zaxxon. In order to convert the control panel, I guess all you needed to do was fill the mounting holes and then drill 4 new ones at 45...

For the record, I got lucky and was able to remove that bracket by taking a screw driver bit and my fingers. This is one piece that will NOT be going back on the cab, lol.
