    Resistor value question

So in the attached picture, on the left is a red red brown resistor and on the 2k setting on my ohm metre it measures .222. On the right (pulled out of circuit to be sure) this seems to be a red red gold resistor, which my understanding is 2.2 ohm resistor, but it measures 4.7 on the 200 setting...

Atari logo joysticks nylon bottom actuator ball - any NOS or proven reproduction sources?

Guys, has there ever been any reproduction of the little end piece that goes at the bottom of the joystick shaft for these? I noticed that my main gauntlet panel joysticks are probably 1mm too used up (thin). One might even have a small crack. I’m sure this leads to a slightly longer push...

Donkey Kong Jr object color issue

Hey guys, my game works great but I’ve noticed what I think is the wrong colour they’re on just those two screens out of four. Are those platforms supposed to be green and not cyan? So this must be on the video half of the board. Do you suspect a bad eprom image or some colour prom issue? Thanks.

    Switch Matrix electronics knowledge needed

OK, I posted in this section because it’s not arcade related. I have an electronic music device where a sequencer start button that doesn’t always start. Seems intermittent. If I twist the board, it is on it then works, but then later stops working. I think there is some sort of internal trace...

    Atari Joysticks cleanup/grease

Hey guys, after I clean up what looks like some older 40 year dried white grease around these joystick plastic parts, what should I use to lubricate them? Some automotive white grease type of thing or this synthetic grease that I’ve seen others use on joysticks here on this forum? How about...

Best laserdisc games besides the two obvious ones

Hey guys, so ‘besides’ Dragon’s Lair and Space Ace, what other regular simple joystick and fire button games were considered the best 2-3 laserdisc games of that 1983-1986 type era? Thinking of posting a WTB for a decent laserdisc and wondering. Thanks.

Soldering skills (lacking) for small holes - how to

Hey guys, I’m working on a Taito board to change a few components and it is really hard to desolder even a regular capacitor. This reminds me of a Bally Midway board same kind of small pins with very little solder. What skills am I missing here? I have a decent thin tip, is the temperature not...

    Help with 1942 glitchy PCBs

Yet another two sets of boards with some issues I’d like to pass by you guys. The first has some flashing white line background there on right side of ship at beginning of every level. I can tell you that it is a defect on the bottom side board. The second one has a sort of wave covering the...

Help with Bomb Jack glitchy PCBs

Hi. I have another double trouble situation with two boards. One of them is outputting yellow only and missing both green and red. The other is missing green and also missing music (but all the sounds are fine). I know that in both boardsets, it's the top main board which is the problem. What do...

Help with dead Bubble Bobble PCBs

OK, I have two boards that have exactly the same symptom. They don't boot. I noticed that even if power supply is fine at 5.1V only about 4.3V of it gets to the pin 11 of these Z-80 processor actually. I noticed that even at the Jamma harness between 5V and GND pins I see only 4.3V. So it looks...

    Nintendo snd PCB missing cap?

Hey guys, I noticed the C378 is missing on this working monitor/soundboard from a Nintendo 20 EZV. Running DK/DKJr boards. Any reason it is not populated? Looks like the PCB holes were plugged with solder probably from day one. Thanks.

    Removing Nintendo nut/bolt green goo

Anybody have experience with best method in removing the green nail polish type hard substance that Nintendo has on their nuts/bolts for items like a Donkey Kong control panel carriage bolts backside or a PP–7B power supply pcb legs to casing, etc.? If you try unscrewing these without removing...

Arcade machine production numbers list - exists?

Was there ever an attempt on this forum to gather a list of known sales (production numbers) of arcade machines from the 80s at least? I mean I'm used to pinball machines that have say 15,000 units for Addams Family; which was one of the bigger selling ones. Anything out there for Vids (at least...

Gauntlet II CPO issue with size

So the story goes like this: I recently bought some T-molding which I want to apply to a spare Gauntlet control panel that I have. Furthermore I’ve had this NOS overlay for Gauntlet II for 20+ years; which I also pulled out and want to apply. I’m pretty sure this is not some sort of...

Help Identify: Nintendo filter PCB and metal PCB holder?

Hi guys, I lost track of what these parts were for. I imagine some PCB holder that went in the back cage and a filter to Punch Out generation perhaps or else for what other games? Thanks.

    Polishing a scratched marquee plexi

Hey guys. What do you suggest for restoring/improving a scratched/swirly marked Nintendo Donkey Kong marquee. Should I use some manual sanding with 2000 grit sand paper or some automotive scratch remover? Some manual or orbit sanding with pinball Novus 3/Novus 2 product? Best method to try...

Nintendo cabinet game serial tag question

OK, I searched a little bit in the old threads, but cannot understand this: What is the difference between the -UP and the -UP–US label mean? For example, the picture below is my ‘particleboard cabinet side’ machine, which was initially a Donkey Kong Jr. and is now a Mario Bros. This one is...

Mario Bros. Screen size - monitor setting?

Hey guys, I have a game which seems to be missing about an inch on each side of the screen. I tried two different backup Mario Bros. boardsets I have and it’s not the board output (unless they all have same issue defect somehow - doubt it). I also plugged in TPG and the patterns show up all the...

    Mario Bros. side art position/placement

...the USA DKJr initially. Would you say this side art placement is correct? For example, the middle bolt of the three that hold up the monitor bracket there is smack in the middle of the eye of Luigi. Thanks for letting me know what you have on your orange or blue *conversion* version of this...
