  1. Atari ARIII Failing under load (Resolved)

Well problem seems to be resolved now. I noticed that I was intermittently getting only 5 volts to the ARIII from the power brick. It was very intermittently, that's why I think i missed it. It would only send 5 volts to the ARIII but turn it off and plug it back on couple mins later it would be...
  2. Atari ARIII Failing under load (Resolved)

okay results using that link are (dmm on diode setting) Step 1: 483 Step 2: 479 Step 3: no reading Step 4: no reading Step 5: no reading So they both check out.
  3. Atari ARIII Failing under load (Resolved)

I just pulled the 2N3055 out and retested them. I put my DMM to 2000kohm, black probe on the Emitter, Red probe to the body/case, got no reading. Took a wire from base leg to the body and got a reading of 173, remove that wire and reading rapidly increases until it goes out of range of my DMM...
  4. Atari ARIII Failing under load (Resolved)

I tested those few out of circuit and they checked out okay. How do you check the LM305. I did find today an old KLOV post with someone who had the exact same problem I am having and it turned out to be their 2N3055's. I did replace those and tested them before putting them on the board, maybe...
  5. Atari ARIII Failing under load (Resolved)

    So here's what I got on the resistors that are in the 5 volt circuit if i understand the schematic. reading stated value R18 103.7ohm 100ohm R20 6.0ohm 2.7ohm R21 30.0ohm 27ohm R22 104.8ohm 100ohm...
  6. Atari ARIII Failing under load (Resolved)

I need to remove them don't I to properly test them?
  7. Atari ARIII Failing under load (Resolved)

This is in my paperboy, was working fine for several weeks and now.... With no load (video board disconnected) I get all the correct voltages on the J7 plug, hook it up to the video board and my 5 volts drops to 1.6v. I am not great with schematics still, don't understand how the circuit flows...
  8. *Update**Centipede Boot Failure

Chips finally arrived today. I changed out N7, That improved the image a little but then I was getting 3 beeps, so I swapped out K7. Image now was almost perfect, just had a couple of random lines on the screen that would go in and out. Test switch now produced 10 beeps, so swapped out N5. That...
  9. Opinions; Neo Geo Game Cartridge issues, I think

okay thank you! For the screen adjustment, when I get the crosshatch pattern on the screen, it has a blue perimeter, are you suppose to adjust so there is no blue on the screen?
  10. Opinions; Neo Geo Game Cartridge issues, I think

The game is working but just missing some graphics, I'm just ocd and like to get everything fully working, but worst case I live with it bc it doesn't affect game play at all. Picture shows whats missing
  11. update with pic***Time Crisis II won't boot

So drove out to take a look at the guys game. Below is a picture of what is displayed on the monitor when you turn on the game. The top of the screen where it states system23 power on test the numbers to the right of it just keep counting up rapidly. Has any experienced this screen before? I am...
  12. Opinions; Neo Geo Game Cartridge issues, I think

Update: New power supply came in today. Installed and now set so the pcb board is getting 5 volts at that test spot I used. King of Monsters doesn't have any graphic issues now, and Metal Slug doesn't have the green fuzzy color pulsing, but it is still missing some graphics on the right and left...
  13. *Update**Centipede Boot Failure

I ordered that ram chip tonight along with a bunch of other chips that populate the board just to have on hand, since I have several other Atari games to work on soon and it cant hurt to have extras on hand so I don't have to wait in the future for stuff to get shipped. I will socket that chip...
  14. *Update**Centipede Boot Failure

    Thanks you very much
  15. *Update**Centipede Boot Failure

Thanks I'll do that. Are there any other chips that are very common to fault on these boards that I should just order a couple to have on hand.
  16. *Update**Centipede Boot Failure

Last night I did kind of wiggle the connector and nothing changed, it goes on very tight, but I will look at the pins inside it. I pulled all the EProms and cleaned their legs, one was quite oxidized but no improvement or change when I booted it back up.
  17. *Update**Centipede Boot Failure

When I got the game nothing worked on it. Last night I finished rebuilding the Audio Regulator and recapped the CPU and am able to get this on the screen. Anyone familiar with this error. From the manual, I think it may be the ROM/Prom at J1, bc of the "garbage" on the screen, but there is a 0...
  18. Opinions; Neo Geo Game Cartridge issues, I think

Thank you. Since I can't find an adjustment pot on the power supply, guess I'll pick up a new one so I can actually dial it in instead of trying to recap the original one hoping that it then drops to correct voltages.
  19. Opinions; Neo Geo Game Cartridge issues, I think

I have two games that are giving me issues on my Neo Geo MVS 4 Slot. Metal Slug: Green lines on along the left and right side of the screen, but then the whole screen with have green lines sometimes. King of Monsters: will have vertical lines every .25" on the screen I thought maybe voltage...
  20. Possible to use a supercapacitor on Neo Geo 4slot

That is what I think I'm leaning toward. Just to make sure, it is just 3 AA NiCad batteries that I need to use correct.
