    Even more Neo Geo questions...

Just an update, in case anyone cares. :D Apparently my pre-made Jamma harness had a bad pin in it. I had to pop out the 'Select Up' wire, re-crimp it, and slide it back in. All is good! As far as the coin thing goes - Once I installed the UniBios 3.3 and set the game to US, worked as...

I used a (modified) JAMMA harness when rewiring my cabinet. The harness I has had both those pins populated. When I wired it up to 'Select Up', nothing. 'Select Down' gave me action, at least. I'll double check tonight when I get home, see if anything else looks out of the ordinary. Thanks...

So I never got around to trying Coin 3/4 inputs, as my new chips finally came in. Burnt UniBios 3.3 and it supported the two LEDs right out of the box, so I'm happy. So, after getting things mostly up and operational, thought of another small oddidty that I thought I would ask about here...

Interesting to hear. I would have thought that would be a 'base OS' type thing, and not handled by each cart. But I can see the advantages of haveing each cart support it, too. The board is a MVS4FT2, with a "SLOT4" upper. Have three carts that I was testing off of - Magician Lord, Burning...

This is what I thought it was at first - After not getting results, I realized that the two chutes listed were set to different prices. (1 coin / 1 credit vs 2 coins / 1 credit) I figured, 'well, duh, they have to the same!' and fixed it, to no benefit. Ah! A lead! Yes, my cross-hatch...

Welp, just color me confused. Flip #2. Shows as 'On' is test mode. No change in how game operates. Seems very odd to me that they would put this in a cabinet with two credit LEDs, and stickers on the coin door that say "Left" and "Right", and .. NOT USE THEM. --- "Hey, how do we save money...

Awesome, thanks! It'll be a couple days before I get to updating things - as far as BIOS goes. I need to look at some cart/slot issues I'm having tonight, and will try the Dip2 tonight as well. -Mike

Because I'm a cheap bastard, and the only new feature in v4 that I would used would be the 'Jukebox' mode. The cost and time of waiting to have it shipped, I would be just fine with the 3.3. :) Ah! Yes - I forgot to mention that I only have the one 'Credits' display on the monitor, too...

    Even more Neo Geo questions...

I have new chips on order, planning on (at some point) putting the next-to-latest UniBios in. If the switches don't work, then I'll pop it in. Yup - both switches (Coin 1, Coin 2) register correctly in Test mode. The LED displays also show properly in Test mode. And yup - that's the manual I...

Interesting, thanks guys, I will check that out. All my documentation says that that switch changes it from *2* to *4*. So I have mine set to "2" which, according to the wiki, is "1". Feel like a moron, but thanks! :D

So, uh.. I can't imagine I broke something, but.. On my Big Red, the control panel has two LED readouts. However, no matter which coin slot I register, coins are only counted on the Left Player (P1) readout. Yes, the switches are wired to Coin 1 and Coin 2. How do I get it to count each...

    JAMMA coin counter wiring

Well, damn, sorry. Was worth a try! I don;t see why it wouldn't work, but - on that side I can't say for sure, so I yield.

    JAMMA coin counter wiring

See if the meter will work off of +12v. Connect one line up to +12v, the other up to ground. It may work regardless, and save you from having to get an additional supply *just* for the coin meter.

Is it sad that I'm more interested in that "N MAIN GAME ROOM" sign, than any of the games? :D

    Quarters...where do you keep them?

All except two of my games run on tokens. The two that do not are my Jukebox ($.10, .25, $.50, $1 coins), and my Twilight Zone (all coins, and up to $20 bills). I have a Rowe changer that holds my quarters - it's how I get tokens out to use the games. Yeah, I pay for my games - all the...

I don't really have Big Red cabinet #9, do I?

Thanks! My cabinet has NOTHING - no decals, plates, or anything on it, other than the coin door and such, so.. it's likely long gone now. Owell.

I don't really have Big Red cabinet #9, do I?

Would this be inside the cabinet, or outside? (Guessing outside, as most are, but since mine has nothing on the outside, can't hurt to double-check.) That was my thought too - the only thing that threw me was the date. In the markings I've seen done by ops, they were usually years past the...
