    Defender 6.3VAC high

Answered my own question, 27ohm made them too dim, lol.

    Defender 6.3VAC high

After connecting 3 lamps to the coin door circuit, the voltage drops to a hair over 8VAC. The current drop resistor, if I'm assuming the correct one, is only 2ohm. Can I possibly change that to a 27ohm (I have a lot of those on hand) or would that be too much resistance and cause awfully dim...

    Defender 6.3VAC high

Ok, I'm still a dummy.. I measured the resistor with the range on my DMM too high and thought it was shorted, when I turned it down to a lower range, it actually measured good.. so the resistor is fine. Now, the part I still don't understand (only because of my lack of education) is why pins 1...

    Defender 6.3VAC high

Ok, so I feel dumb, but this also leads to more questions.. I decided to remove the 2ohm 5W resistor from circuit and test, turns out that it is fully shorted (not open). I was assuming it was ok since I was getting just shy of 5V from the output side of the resistor, which seems correct. I was...

    Defender 6.3VAC high

I have updated my wording to be specific that the coin door light bulbs blow after a bit, not the fuse. Just wanted to make that clear. Yes, upright.

    Defender 6.3VAC high

My defender has been playing fine since I’ve owned it but will always blow the coin door light bulbs due to the following find.. I found that I get about 9.4VAC across the bulb socket terminals which is of course too much for a #47 bulb. I get about 5VAC out of the transformer which transfers...

Sega Super GT - looking for guidance on a few issues..

Hey all! I finally picked up a Super GT! Been after this title for a while but unfortunately, I know nothing about these systems so I'm looking for some help with a few issues / oddities. First, I have been talking a bit to Ken @ irepairsega about the force feedback issues (non-existent...

Golden Tee Fore 2005 (red board) boot isssue..

Update: I have a local guy that let me borrow a red board with blue video card, along with a green board and green video card. Tried both video cards, no dice. Swapped all socketed chips aside from the Boot rom to my board and no dice. Tried other red board but it will not boot at all. So, the...

Golden Tee Fore 2005 (red board) boot isssue..

Tried contact cleaner, no go. It's a blue card with IT logo. There are no familiar caps on this card, nothing I've ever dealt with anyway.

Golden Tee Fore 2005 (red board) boot isssue..

Update: Voltages on board are a little low (5.00-5.01 vdc @ U15), tried a different PS for the heck of it and got 5.03-5.04 vdc, but issue still present. Of course since its an ATX power supply, there is no voltage adjustment but I'm starting to suspect that low voltage may be the issue.. I...

Golden Tee Fore 2005 (red board) boot isssue..

Ok, didn't last long, maybe a couple of bootups. Now back to square one.. possibly still related to video card, trying to track another one down now.

Let me correct that, the top LAN board was bad.

    silent scope 2

I know this is 8 months old but I had a similar issue with my boardset, turns out the top I/O board was bad. Once I put in a working board from another boardset, it produced a picture.. failed other checks that I'm currently working on but it solved the initial no picture issue.

Golden Tee Fore 2005 (red board) boot isssue..

Got it to boot. Uninstalled the video card for the 2nd time since I've had the game, powered on game with no video card out of curiosity to see what it did, no video on screen obviously but it still followed the same boot loop process. I then reinstalled video card and firmly seated the 20pin...

Golden Tee Fore 2005 (red board) boot isssue..

I recently purchased a GT2005 and now trying to figure out the boot issue it's having. The previous owners story goes like this.. Game was on all original hardware and would randomly reboot. It then started to not fully boot at all, would get to the "disk load complete" portion and then...

    Another Ms Pac issue..

Thanks for the suggestions. It's almost back to normal but I don't know what changed. I suspect a bad socket / connection somewhere. After removing the HSS kit and installing the Z80 directly to the board and the original ROMs, I got a way different error screen and also some continuous pops and...

    Another Ms Pac issue..

Well, I thought this one was going to be an easy fix as the screen I'm getting matches up pretty well with one on Mikesarcade page, telling me that 4L was the likely culprit.. but maybe not? I've had the game for a few years now with no issues, then added a HSS kit, still no issues that I...

    Star Castle questions..

Yes, it does change actually, sounds like it's a normal thing then, thanks :) I think the brightness will be fine, I'll play around a bit more at some point as I still need to get the sound board fixed.

    Star Castle questions..

Thanks for the input. I dialed down the brightness a bit and it's now a bit sharper and seems to have less pulsing while still being bright enough to play. The center ship still shimmies around a bit but that's normal? Another thing I noticed is a buzzing or more of a very rapid clicking...
