    Asteroids LF353 TL082 Incompatibility

Found it! Thanks @ArcadeJason for the hint about half power consumption of the LF353. Popped in a new 7815 that supplies the +15v to these and we now have a full picture!

    Asteroids LF353 TL082 Incompatibility

Ok, so this is weird. The pic below is what I get when I have LF353s in place in the analog section. Pop in some TL082s from Digikey and the monitor goes into spot killer. Both sets read as good as TL082 in my IC checker. The game plays blind just fine. Thoughts?

    Mappy Background Issues

I’m at the point that I now have a semi-working Mappy board after someone horrible attempt at a repair. The last part of the puzzle is to get the background working. See the pics below. Unfortunately when I put it into test, that screen is blank so I can’t see if it’s throwing any codes. I’m...

    Mappy missing some text

While it goes through the startup process, it displays no text. So not sure if all's good or not. Game plays though Legs on customs are good. Don't have the means to check the proms.

    Mappy missing some text

I realize this is a necro bump, but I have this exact same problem. Voltages are good, roms are good, ram is good. Anyone care to hazard a guess.?

    Jr. Pac Proms

I found a copy of that .cpp file. I had a really quick look at this and have no idea what to do with this given it's not a binary file.

Much thanks @HudsonArcade !!!! Will look into this tonite

    Jr. Pac Proms

Unfortunately Stephen can’t do these. They are similar to the MCR “proms” that have internal fuses which are blown at the factory to make them uncopyable (sp?). That’s why we can’t find binary files for these.

Asteroids - Tiny Foldover along the X Axis

Checked all the TL081s and TL082s.

Asteroids - Tiny Foldover along the X Axis

No, I haven't checked any of the passive components, but that would make sense. I guess I would be looking at some component in the Y axis then….agreed?

Asteroids - Tiny Foldover along the X Axis

It's static, the line is 1/8" to 3/16" across the middle of the screen. Anything passing through it gets distorted.

Asteroids - Tiny Foldover along the X Axis

Pulled out each and swapped with known good. I had another issue with the board showing weird artifacts happening around the sprites. Ended up being a bad 6502. Now this is what’s left to resolve

Asteroids - Tiny Foldover along the X Axis

Take a look at the pic. It's like a tiny bit of foldover along the x axis. I've checked all the chips in the analog section, they're all fine. Roms are know good too. Vector experts, your thoughts?

    Lunar Lander Resetting - Resolved

Works now! Yes, it did need that other vector eprom in there to work. And it didn’t like the 2114 ram I put into E2. Replaced that, and now she works! Also had to replace the 1amp fuse in the HV cage. What a blast! Love it. But in the excitement I hear a clunk inside the cabinet. Looks like...

    Lunar Lander Resetting - Resolved

A couple questions for you guys as I start to dig into my resetting LL pcb. First off, had two beeps when put into test. Replaced ram at E2, and that cured the beeping. But now it's resetting. So… the board is a -01. Is the rom at NP3 supposed to be populated? I believe it is, but just need...

Star Wars Matrix Issues - RESOLVED

Holy fucking shit biscuits I figured it out!!! When you started pigging backing the LS157 at 3L would ever so slightly blip changes....sometimes....on the screen. Putting the new 157 on wouldn't do anything, its when you're trying to align the legs. Pulled out 3L, it was bad. But no changes...

Star Wars Matrix Issues - RESOLVED

Like to think I'm making progress. I've noticed that the prom at 7k, pin 12 is pretty much always low. The prom is good. But I tried lifting the leg out of the socket and it's output is still low. I can actually remove this prom from the socket and the same matrix errors pop up. The means...

Star Wars Matrix Issues - RESOLVED

Ugg, what a rookie move....thanks for this. other screens are now appearing. I'll restart the piggybacking exercise now as suggested. Appreciate the help @douglasgb!

Star Wars Matrix Issues - RESOLVED

Still chipping away at this... So a couple more things I'm noticing about the issues with this board. I'm not able to get into the stats screen when I trigger the self test lug on the board. I can if I immediately do it after the board boots, but then screen will then freeze. Triggering the...
