The monitor ground is not the same as an earth ground for a k 7000. One ground goes to the braided wire that’s around the tube and the other one is grounded to the chassis frame. Both grounds should lead back to the neck board.

Post a pic to make sure you do have a k7000. Everything between the k7000a and a regular 7000 should hook up the same way
