SOLVED: Gorf's 90411 linear PS - no sound BUT produces all the proper voltages! It's NOT the amp PCB!

SOLVED! Rechecked/reflowed everything in that circuit AND replaced the 4700/25v cap. Loud and clear now! Thanks, SNES!

When I use a switcher with the Arcade Shop adapter for Gorf, I get all the sounds just fine.

SOLVED: Gorf's 90411 linear PS - no sound BUT produces all the proper voltages! It's NOT the amp PCB!

I can get sound with the AS switcher adapter installed, so it's not that.

SOLVED: Gorf's 90411 linear PS - no sound BUT produces all the proper voltages! It's NOT the amp PCB!

First off, boardset, harness, and amp board known good. When I use a switcher with the Arcade Shop adapter for Gorf, I get all the sounds just fine. When I plug in the linear 90411-B000, it produces all the voltages and the game plays but there is no sound at all. Double-checked all the...

CINEMATRONICS REPAIR LOG: Armor Attack CCPU - red LED ok but no pic.

Getting chatter from the board but no pic on the monitor. The 7432 at J2 is responsible for brightness/intensity on the boardset. It was already socketed. Tested it in my known good boardset (also socketed at that location) and it was bad. Replaced chip, no change. Traced back inputs with...

REPAIR LOG: Battlezone has clocks but dead otherwise

Board initially had no crystal. Replaced crystal. Now had all the clocks but still "dead." After some prodding, seems the game was acting like the reset button was pushed in constantly. Button confirmed okay. Reset stuck low at P40 on the CPU. WD DISABLE did nothing either. The 74@L10 was...

SOLVED: Another Tempest upside down and mirrored but not the usual suspects.

Aux board known good - this problem is on the main board itself.

SOLVED: Another Tempest upside down and mirrored but not the usual suspects.

J11 checked already - see initial post. Pin 9 on J11 (the "S" pin signal) is high. EDIT: Shorting C to ground on a 2 player "cocktail" game does nothing for either player screen.

SOLVED: Another Tempest upside down and mirrored but not the usual suspects.

Pin C on the Aux PCB's edge connector, correct, not the interconnect cable (those seem numbered, not lettered). EDIT: If so, yes; C and pin 10 on the B/C POKEY are both solid high.

SOLVED: Another Tempest upside down and mirrored but not the usual suspects.

Does it regardless of what Aux board is used or what interconnect cable is used.

SOLVED: This was a bad LF13201 @ E11. It's only supposed to control the Y output, so not sure why I was getting mirrored and flipped from this one chip, but I was. Thanks for the help, all! Tempest is displaying upside down and mirrored. Self-test shows no issues. Player 1 and Player 2...

SOLVED! Millipede: Some text shifting by one to the left.

Thank you for turning my attention back to the RAM. I had to replace two RAM to get it running - one was 2M. The new chip was good enough to get the game running but had something wrong with it, leading to this shifting problem. A different RAM chip fixed the issue. YOU GET A GOLD STAR FOR...

SOLVED! Millipede: Some text shifting by one to the left.

Only one is socketed. No, there are no anomalies on any of the graphics during gameplay, save for at the bottom of the screen where it says NDXT BONUS T 20,000 or whatnot. With the E and A moved one to the left.

SOLVED! Millipede: Some text shifting by one to the left.

Stupid scope question - hook one probe to GND and the other to pin in question to get wave picture?

SOLVED! Millipede: Some text shifting by one to the left.

Yes, but use it for little more than a test vector monitor. Went about pulling up legs on the GFX ROMs. Pulling up pin 5 on 5P had the characters screwed up, but the shifting of the E to a D in "earwig" stopped as did the slight jitter on the W/V in "growth." That is indeed MGA3 line in...

SOLVED! Millipede: Some text shifting by one to the left.

Continuity good from both 5p of the GFX ROMs to 8p of 6N. Piggybacked 6N and 5H which feeds it - no change. Even reflowed 6N and 5H. Been over thing with the lighted magnifying glass and blew it out with compressed air to get any MaybeCrud (tm) from beneath chips and sockets which might be...
