SOLVED: Gaplus/Galaga 3 high score save (Midway board)

Your best bet is to read in your 8b, 8c, 8d roms are let the patcher detect which version you have.

    Various Free Play hacks

Better question is why not! If I split out all the patches into individual files from my latest V14 version it would be over 2000+ files and be difficult to verify if any files have been corrupted until you tried to use them. Also my patcher will patch and combine files to generate new rom files...

    Various Free Play hacks

Interesting, I am looking at the Sectigo Individual Code Signing Certificates which isn't too bad for a 4 year deal. But it won't have pass the MS Smartscreen reputation filter and ultimately it still relies on someone trusting me not to have virused the program before I sign it.

    Various Free Play hacks

I would sign my executables but there is a cost involved in getting registered and getting a certificate. I do however run a decent anti virus regime and am careful where I go on the internet or which programs I run on my development system. But I do agree it pays to be careful in this day and age.

    Various Free Play hacks

Yes it is a proper Freeplay / Rolling Demo with my patch. You can select either HSS or Freeplay or both options when patching the roms.

    Various Free Play hacks

Once you run it and set a folder you can either use auto detect on files in that folder to see if there is a matching rom set or you can use the drop down menus to see what games are available in the patcher. Once a game is selected you can then select a version as in most cases I have attempted...

    Various Free Play hacks

Just wanted to say that if it wasn't for https://scoresaves.com/ and Matts tag line "A High Score Save Kit will make you play your game more often!" I probably would never have started creating high score saving / freeplay patches.

    Various Free Play hacks

See the attached V13 of my ArcadeRomPatcher :) I went back and took another look and found another way to add Freeplay. It really was, took around 20 hours total to do all the versions. The main issue is that it's the MCU that handles inputs and credits in the internal code and changing this...

Arcade Rom Patcher V4 (High Score Saves, Flip Screen, Freeplay & Conversions)

Yes, they are binary files, no different to eprom files used in Mame or read in by a programmer. One obscure thing that may be causing you an issue is that you should not try and patch roms files if they are in a folder on the main Windows boot drive which is usually C drive. I've never had the...

Does Converting PCB from one game to another affect value?

As a few people on here will know my Arcade Rom Patcher has quite a few conversion patches in it, so as you would guess I am a fan of converting unloved boards. I would say though that a rom converted board would be worth more than the donor game but not as much as a genuine original. It was the...

What boards would you like to see reproduce?

Pretty certain both Gorf and Wizard of Wor both have speech now I believe. The majority of the work on the Astrocade project was done by Macro over UKVac. Here is the thread UKVac Link He is currently working on a pcb that along with a DE10 will allow you to plug it into an original cab to...

SOLVED: Gaplus/Galaga 3 high score save (Midway board)

Glad my patcher did the job, seems like I should update the patch info though as it doesn't have that Midway ram location noted. Just for reference, I did all 9 versions of Gaplus/Galaga3 in my patcher. Sometimes it gets me down having to do all the versions but I know what a pain it can be to...

    in the hunt roms

If you take a look at my patching program, https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=428949 You will see that I have provided patches covering both M82 (MT1) & M92 (MT2) boards. The M92 games used an encrypted sound rom which my patcher will decrypt, you then just have to change 2...

    Cool PCB Pickups!!!

Slightly off topic, but you may be interested in my rom patches. I have done patches for Dragon Breed, X Multiply, R-Type, R-Type II, Cosmic Cop and Hammerin' Harry to get them working on M82 Major Title boards without any hardware hacking of the board. Not quite the same as an original board...

Arcade Rom Patcher V4 (High Score Saves, Flip Screen, Freeplay & Conversions)

Sorry about this. You probably will need an account, it's free though. I am trying to keep the releases and discussion/problems people may have in one place or it will become a nightmare to manage. Yes, you basically swap out the 2804 for a 2816 then with my patched main board roms it will use...

NEW Multigame Kit - the unveiling - www.highscoresaves.com

Well CPS1 has already been done by a French guy and is a really impressive board. Namco system 1 has already been done. I have a Atari System 1 multi that I made myself but it still uses the original control types and so heavily relies on my reconfigurable control panel that can emulate all...
