    Cleaning heavily smoke damaged pcb

^^^THIS^^^ i use this stuff every day in a sonic cleaner for new pcbs. actually i use Branson EC 100-955-914 but Monoethanolamine is the active ingredient plus morpholine as a corrosion inhibitor excellent for removing flux. you need to have a temp of 140f to 160f that being said not sure how...

Sense Circuit - Early Midway power supplies - Keep or bypass?

Yes a disconnected sense line will effect your regulated voltage

Sense Circuit - Early Midway power supplies - Keep or bypass?

You should be free to do whatever you want without fear of judgement from others. You asked an intelligent question and got intelligent answers. If you care what others think then stay in their box while others think outside it. I personally would stick to the original circuit or an arcade shop...

Sense Circuit - Early Midway power supplies - Keep or bypass?

looks like you could replace the 510ohm with a 470 or 330 to drop the voltage a bit but you might not have to if you short the 10ohm

Working on a sinistar cockpit with original pcb and an aftermarket control panel harness. I had the exact same issue as op. Switching orange and orange/yellow on the harness fixed my issue as well. Thanks @obitus1990 my joystick tested good and I was stumped. if not for this thread I would have...

    grade8arcade's Battlezone - repair & upgrades ( Subwoofer !) log

The beep is during the first time boot cabinet select screen. This is just an audio test for me to prevent it from going down the line to the next assembly step without sound. If I have to back track and do repairs that means I have to wash the PCB a second time. So I try to cover all io tests...

Vector Labs Sega G80 power supply adapter-what power supply are you using??

fact check me but iirc the raster and vector power supply is the same. the only difference is more parts are populated on the vector version. so vector PSUs can go in rasters but raster PSUs cannot go in vectors.

    What’s wrong with my PP?

as others have said check your voltages. this way you know where to even look for the issue. p4position only uses one of the ar2s so if wanted after checking voltages you could try swapping places of your ar2s as a temp fix if one is bad. the p4 does have a solder pad that connects both ar2s...

Tempest restore running but with issues

i get it the guy who suggested that is well known has many years under his belt repairing pcbs too. WTF LOL just goes to show experience is not the same as knowledge and knowledge is not the same as wisdom.

yeah klov is a lot less active but at least you filter out some of the bad advise here.

Tempest restore running but with issues

replacing caps will do nothing on barrys board. the reason that board is not as sensitive is because the spot killer led its self is part of the spot killer circuit. a modern led was used in its place which draws less current. the "fix" is to use a lower value resistor at r14 and its mirrored...
