    Welcome to SlikkNikk's Arcade!

Nice little row or two there Nick, I hope I find a clean Space Zap again one day, such a simple yet challenging game.

The Drop In Quarters 2.0 - Don't call it a come back.

After some trial and error I worked out the ideal Size for toys and shells to go in the claw machine. Thanks to Temu it wasn’t too expensive to load it all up for the kiddos.

The Drop In Quarters 2.0 - Don't call it a come back.

A big milestone achieved today. The ceiling is done in the arcade. Very happy with the huge difference it makes to the room. It has also added a noticeable amount of sound deadening which is a nice bonus.

The Drop In Quarters 2.0 - Don't call it a come back.

Yep I'm currently looking for a second Astro City. Someone recommended KC up in LA as he is always moving candy cabs. I'm not sure what happened but he seemed kinda off over text (perhaps just a language barrier) but when I refused to pay him $2400 using Zelle (zero buyer protection) for a cab...

The Drop In Quarters 2.0 - Don't call it a come back.

thanks. Yeah I have a few 3D printers so at some point I can print one of those cases. Too many projects not enough time as usual.

The Drop In Quarters 2.0 - Don't call it a come back.

My Gyruss has been down for a bit so it’s my first opportunity for a real world test of my emergency Pi-to-Jamma rescue kit. I got a converter from PCBJunkie and added it to my Jamma pi board. Loaded the Gyruss rom onto the system and set it to auto boot. The cab behaves like it has the...

The Drop In Quarters 2.0 - Don't call it a come back.

Today I installed the Darksoft multi kit for the Deco cassette system. It’s a two piece kit, a drop-in bios rom replacement and a daughter board that plugs into the main boards using the security dongle header. I was surprised there doesn’t seem to be free play options in this kit, I do...

Weirdest thing you've been offered in trade for a game?

CL and other local classifieds are certainly full of.....interesting people with interesting trade ideas at times. What are the stranger things you've been offered in trade for a game you've listed for sale? for me, a Jetski, a drone and a dirtbike have been some of the more eye-opening items.

    Blacklight carpet

I don't really have any edge issues as my rugs are 16ft long so they just run the length of the row.

    Blacklight carpet

They were more common in the bowling alley arcades. The one small arcade we had in town was more of a snack shop with arcade machines and lots of windows as it was by the River which was pretty touristy

I got rugs too, from Etsy. You have to be careful which type though as some of them can be really crap quality.

NEW Future Home of Galaxy Blue

If you like bourbons and haven't already tried it, Angel's Envy is great for around $40. Also if you like a shot of Tequila now and again Costco's own añejo is amazing and a steal at $30 for a liter.

The Drop In Quarters 2.0 - Don't call it a come back.

I love it. The form factor is genius, certainly one of the most playable and comfortable cabs I own. But a clean Astro city with no game board will run you $2000-$2500 at market prices which makes it a real commitment. I’ve added a MiSTer and Jamma board to this one which is glorious but it...

The Drop In Quarters 2.0 - Don't call it a come back.

The time to admit defeat has come for my City Connection project that I started over 7 years ago. Losing all of the art files to corruption of the zip archives I had them stored in was too much of a morale killer for me to want to start all over again. Sometimes you just have to take the L and...

Arcade Games on modern home consoles?

I use a backbone controller with my iPhone and run RetroArch, it makes for a pretty practical and easy to carry/pack mobile gaming package.

The self-inflicted price explosion of KLOV

Ha! I regularly post 3rd party ads and auctions for people to go after, even when they are local to me, have helped many people pick up things, given away whole projects to local KLOV guys. That Bubbles cabinet sat in Maryland for 15 years without anyone 'local' doing anything with it. So yes...

Vinegar neutralizes acid corrosion because it's alkaline, but if you don't rinse it good afterwards, it does the same to your traces.

I've learned this lesson too. I'll take a swing at fixing boards and monitor chassis, but once I start making mistakes, and smoke monsters, it's time to put that bitch in a box and send it to someone who knows what they are doing.
